Fantasy Matchmaker: Kelly "The Ghost" Pavlik!

As much as Kelly Pavlik has squandered his middle weight momentum. There's really no reason he can't regain at least some of his credibility and promise. While he may never be a lineal titlist again, he still certainly has the talent, marketability and notoriety to grab a strap and possibly throw a little polish on his "legacy."

So just for fun, list 3 fights that you would have him take to put him back on track. Since Kelly has officially moved to Super Middle Weight, for this exercise lets keep all fights at a minimum weight of 164. Let's see who can make the best 3 fight schedule to resuscitate Kelly "The Ghost" Pavlik's career!

Kelly will probably take 1 or 2 tuneup fights, but lets ignore that and go straight for the serious portion of his campaign.

Here's my quick effort at it. Comeback fight against Librado Andrade(a sure fire barn burner that Pavlik would be favorite to win, a fight against Mikkel Kessler somewhere in the US(Pavlik could likely pull out a close decision, and finally round it all out with a title match against Carl Froch(assuming Froch still has a belt.)

What I did was mostly avoid the slick or crafty fighters that would give Kelly trouble.. Froch has shown another dimension to his game, but I think he would give into temptation to occasionally trade with Pavlik. Even this 3 fight plan would be a longshot for success, but I think it's decent..

Absolutely like stated... movers/boxers are all wrong for Pavlik... he looked bad against all of them... he needs someone who stands in front of him...

Guys like Glen Johnson are right for him, Kessler as well... or like Sturm, Zbik, Abraham - I know they are MW's... but from their fighting style...

Guys like Bute, Dirrell, Ward and even Froch are all wrong for him... they have too many ways they can fight and adapt for Pavlik... against Froch could be good if Froch comes in like against Kessler... but if Froch comes in like against Abraham it will be a snoozer that Froch wins IMO...

Really match him carefully... get a SMW shot about a title that he can win... and then go for one big won... IDK if it will be any more with Pavlik

probably won't take him that many fights to get back into people's minds.

he probably should give daryl cunningham the fight they were promised before pulling out last minute. so start with that. after....

            Jesse Brinkley
Marco Antonio Rubio rematch - although they are different divisions now.
            Enrique Ornelas or Librado Andrade
            Brian McGee
            Allan Green
