154, and not for the mw title.
Let's settle this: At what weight should the Pac-Martinez fight take place at?

WBC Diamond middleweight champion Sergio Martinez is willing to strain down to 150-pounds for a possible fight with Manny Pacquiao in 2012. Allegedly, Pacquiao made a statement that he would face Martinez, but only at a catch-weight of 150, which is the same weight the Filipino star fought Antonio Margarito in 2010. Martinez (47-2-2, 26KOs) is facing undefeated Darren Barker, on the 1st October in Atlantic City. He wants to challenge to Pacquiao (53-3-2, 38 KOs) in the later part of 2012.
The last I heard from Sergio’s camp was that making 150 could be fatal to his health, but thankfully it can still be done.
I voted 147.Comment

Very good responses so far, I have read all of them.
I went ahead and voted for 154 even though I think 150 would be the appropiate weight for both.
Forgetting about them as individuals, I had to pick 154 due to the fact that it's a legit weight class and not to mention Pacquiao would get full credit for the victory. I think some of these catchweights hurt Pacquiao more than they help him due to the fact that I'm sure he could have beat all of the guys he has beat at their current weights. He is that strong and amazing of an athlete.
However, 150 would be a good weight as well considering Team Martinez said he was a WW. And even I think 147 is pushing it a little even though I know Sergio can make it.
That's my opinion okay, hope you enjoy.Comment

You're wrong.I honestly don't care what the weight would be. But I do know that Sergio is ALOT close to SMW then Pac is to JMW, and Sergio is supposedly waaaaay too small for SMW according to his team, so the most fair weight would be somewhere around 150 IMO. Sergio is a WW anyways, according to his team a couple of months ago...
Sergio is not "ALOT" closer to smw than pac is to jmw.
Sergio weighs around 165 on fight night and is undersized by about 15 lbs to the decent sized smw's.
Pac weighs ~150 on fight night and is undersized by approximately 15lbs to the decent sized jmw's.Comment

Why can't you say that? Middleweight is 154-160, not just 160. So any weight from 154.0000000001-160 is considered a MW fight, if both guys agree to any weight within that range, why wouldn't/shouldn't the belt be on the line?
Martinez already defended the lineal MW belt at a 158 lb catchweight.Comment

No, 160 is the middleweight limit. 155 is a make belief pretend weighlimit. Why can't you say that? Middleweight is 154-160, not just 160. The fighters are free to decide upon themselves what extra stipulations there should be, but drop the nonsense about x-x is welterweight/middleweight/whatever.
It's a catchweight.Comment

So what did you think of the 'make belief pretend weighlimit' of 158 for Sergio's lineal MW title defense against 6'3 82" reach Paul Williams? Does that fight get stricken from the record books? Is Sergio no longer the lineal MW champ because he fought for the title at a catchweight?
Again, MW is 154-160. Any fight that happens within that range is MW.Comment

I don't have a problem with catchweights, because it gives us fights that may not have been possible otherwise.
I'm not a fan of catchweight fights for a title, since it removes some of the aspect of it. And i feel that if the guy is Pacquiao, Williams or SRL. Doesn't matter.Comment

With all the the catchweights Manny mind as well challenge Wlad klitchko and make him come down to 160 but still have the Heavyweight belt on the line. No, a middleweight fight has the limit of 160. a 155 limit would be a catchweight fight.
