Marquez to receive $31,250 in his next fight

Former IBF/WBA featherweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez has reportedly accepted the mandatory fight against the defending WBA champ Chris John in John's country. Despite the low purse that he will get (25% of US$125,000 purse bid value) compared to the $900,000 offered for a rematch with Manny Pacquiao, Marquez will come to Indonesia to try to regain his title. Marquez's WBA superchamp title was stripped after the IBF stripped his title for the failure to defend his mandatory title against F. Rakkiatgym.

    $125,000 x 0.25 = $31,250 (minus Nacho Beristain's cut and the sparring partners LOL)

I think Marquez refused a rematch with Pac because they were offering too much money LMAO. $31K, **** outta here. Andre Ward and Jason Litzau earn more money that the undisputed featherweight champ LOL. Now I'm convinced, he does sleep with those belts.

To be honest, I fear for his life. Indonesia is not the safest place to visit at the moment, especially with those suicide bombers in Bali, it's like going to ****ing Iraq or something. I'm just stunned how desperate Marquez is that he will accept that ****ty offer and even fight in a far more dangerous environment. I hope he can come back home safely.

JMM's business savy and skills make Bernard Hopkins look like a genius in comparison.

Getting that little piece of coin for this fight is what he deserves. He knows he got a gift in his fight with Pac, he simply didn't won't a part a rematch.

This is another example of a fighter letting his pride get the best of him. He should have taken the Pac re-match. Like they say "Pride only hurts, it never helps."
