Dude was the head trainer for Cuba's national team teaching guys like Gamboa. Dude is defense minded trainer who like Steward teaches guys to fight behind the jab. He is no Steward but he will teach basically the same things Steward would.

Hoy me complace anunciarles que mi entrenador para mi próxima pelea del 3 de diciembre en Nueva York será el legendario entrenador cubano y experto en boxeo, Pedro Luis Díaz Benítez. Pedro Luis es un Doctor en Ciencias Pedagógicas. Posee un grado de Maestría en entrenamiento de deportes de la Universidad de Deportes de Cuba y una concentración post maestría en Cultura Física y Deportes. Fue profesor e investigador de la Universidad de Deportes de Cuba. También ha trabajado como entrenador y asesor de entrenamientos con múltiple medallistas de oro Olímpicos y campeones mundiales.


Conocí a Pedro Luis cuando yo era boxeador aficionado mucho años atrás y tuve la oportunidad de compartir tiempo con él en múltiples competencias internacionales. Quedé instantanemanete impresionado con el profundo conocimiento de técnica de boxeo y acondicionamiento que le enseñaba a sus boxeadores. Me siento seguro que junto con Phil, Pedro Luis es la perfecta combinación para traer lo mejor de mis habilidades para mi pelea de diciembre y llevarnos la victoria!


Quiero tomar esta oportunidad para expresar mi sincero agradecimiento a Emanuel Steward, a quien considero mi amigo y uno de mis mentores. Debido a problemas de calendario y otros asuntos, no podremos trabajar esta pelea. Emanuel es uno de los mejores entrenadores del mundo que he conocido y estaré por siempre agradecido por las dos peleas que trabajamos juntos. Ambos hemos dejado la puerta abierta para trabajar juntos otra vez en el futuro si las circunstancias son propicias.


Ahora a enfocarme en mi entrenamiento! me siento feliz y emocionado como nunca de comenzar a prepararme para mi pelea. Voy a estar listo y voy a ganar la pelea para todos ustedes.
