Comments Thread For: Macklin: Barker Exposed Sergio Martinez's Weaknesses!

Middleweight Matthew Macklin (28-3, 19KOs) believes Darren Barker showed him the way to beat WBC Diamond champion Sergio Martinez. Macklin sat ringside last Saturday night in Atlantic City, and scouted Martinez (48-2-2, 28 KOs) as he knocked out Barker in eleven rounds. Macklin plans to make his debut for promoter Lou DiBella in November. If everything goes well in November, Macklin is expecting the strong possibility of facing Martinez in March. DiBella also promotes Martinez.

They all say nonsense like that. Didn't Barker say something similar?

Barker showed how to survive vs Martinez. He didnt really show how to beat Martinez, nothing Macklin can take confidence from anyway.Matt is a busy fighter and would come forward. If you walk forward letting your hands go against Sergio, youre asking to walk onto one. Ask Paul Williams. Sergio fought with his hands by his side all night begging Barker to let his hands go and make a fight of it but he just wouldnt

Barker fight reminded me a little of the Jesse Vargas fight... in which Lopez had his guard up the whole time and blocked a lot of punches.... but never threw much of his own. Also didn't Sergio knock Barker out while he had his guard up?
