You people are forgetting the punishment Mayorga can take.
He throws bombs, and rocks fighters in 3 rounds, but he also can take hits from the best, giving trinidad 3 shots into his jaw, and staying up. Mayorga will not be KO'ed, the only way he loses is by UD, and I see Mayorga canning this bastard.

        Oscar inks Mayorga pact!
Oscar De La Hoya has reportedly signed a tentative pact to to challenge Ricardo Mayorga for the WBC 154-pound title on May 6. It is not known whether the bout will be a co-promotion between Don King Productions and De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions, or DKP and Top Rank, which holds a right of first refusal for Oscar's next bout, according to the LA Times. The paper also reported that former champions Shane Mosley and Fernando Vargas will collide on February 25 and IBF lightweight champion Jesus Chavez will face off WBC super featherweight king Marco Antonio Barrera on March 25.

It's funny how some of u guys are quick to say that DLH will KTFO Mayo, Tito connected over 50% of his power shots in almost every round against Mayo and still it took Tito till the 8th round to knock him out. If DLH will win, but on the score cards...

Truth is ..... Mayorga catches Oscar with good stuff, whether Oscar trys to box (and run away in later rounds) or if Oscar goes toe-to-toe. Let's just hope that Oscar is actually concerned about his "legacy" (as he says he is) so that he chooses to give us something like a war or a boxing lesson to talk about.

My expectation is that Oscar cannot run away. Plus he can't take out Mayorga. So, it's up to Mayorga, really.

I would love to see Mayo win this fight, but if Oscar gives Mayo a worst beat down than the one he got from Tito (if even possible) maybe that will hurt Tito's pride and set up a fight between them in Sept...That would be ***in awesome.

I am so NOT a DLH fan, but I know a good solid technician when I see one, and that is something that Mayorga is not. DLH is bound to box circles around him....mayo would absolutely have to get lucky and catch him with a very good punch or he loses on the cards and possibly looks silly doing it. THis match up is hard to even take serious, and I cant figure what oscar is trying to prove or accomplish??

I think he is just trying to win a fight. And he knows Mayorga is a good name to beat. On top of that its a marketable fight because it plays good guy vs. bad guy. And we all know that sells...

true true...this is definately a fight dlh can win. he will probably get stunned a time or two, but I dont see him letting mayo get in that close, that often. boxing lesson for sure.
