Is the WW Division ready for Japans Yoshihiro Kamegai?

Of the 3 Teiken fighters travelling to the US to showcase their skills - Roman Gonzalez fights Omar Soto, Toshiaki Nishioka goes war vs. Rafael Marquez - Yoshihiro Kamegai is the least known but plans to give boxing fans the most memorable impression come Saturday as he debuts at welterweight vs. Hector Munoz, a late replacement of Jesus Soto Karass.

Kamegai is a talented boxed-puncher with two-handed power and some flair and ****iness in the ring, his best win is a 6 round toyage over former world champ Jose Alfaro. Hard to say how far the 28yo from Tokyo can go in the deep welterweight division, but if he's successful in Saturday's important showing, expect his promoter to get him a major fight next year.

He looks like he is arm punching, and has his head sticking up, wide open.

He is a highlight reel Ko victim, waiting to happen.

shouldnt the question be "is Kamegai ready for the WW divison?"

the answer is "hell to the no"...he looks really slow...got some nice punches here and there but thats it...no combination, no great defense...nothing!

there are a lot of talented japanese fighters it's a shame the US hardly ever gets to see any. Of course, they make good money in Japan so no real need to come over here.

Better than watching Bradley vs. Alexander, just saying.

              kamegai is a beast.

He needs to muscle up more if he wants to really compete in the real WW division.

As it stands tho. He'd get hurt bad if someone assaulted his body. He needs to get on some real training and eating regimen. To maximize his ability in ring.

Don't want to judge him based off that small clip but he's too open, I hope he doesn't leave himself that open.
