Does Sergio Martinez deserve to be known as the 3rd best P4P boxer in the world?

Based on last night's performance, I don't think so. Darren Barker, a fighter who hasn't fought many fighters above domestic level and wasn't given much of a chance going into the fight, made him look very ordinary.

Martinez' style is highly questionable too. Keeping your hands down by your side and offering your chin is all very well and good if your defence is impeccable. But Sergio was continually getting caught by Barker's jab. That kind of thing can get a fighter into big trouble.

On the plus-side, Sergio does have a hell of a right hook. Rocked Barker with one, then hit him with a second, which was partially blocked and not completely on target, but was enough to put the final nail in Barker's coffin.

Based on this performance, I'm sure a lot of fighters who have been "avoiding" Sergio will be cueing up to fight him.

Best middleweight in the world? Maybe. The Pound-for-Pound 3rd best fighter in the world? Not a chance.

Hello, Mr. Snipes. I enjoy your work when you're not in prison.

Sergio probably thought Barker would be an easy ride. I definitely don't think he expected the fight he got.

I think so. Barker came with a great gameplan to shut Martinez down, stuck to it admirably, but still ultimately became another brutal KO victim.

That said, he's wasting his time at 160 imo. There's a stacked division either side of him and he should head for one of those.

I think Juan Manuel Marquez was unjustly dropped behind Martinez, and should have been put back at p4p #3 the moment he beat Diaz after losing to Mayweather. You can't tell me Sergio Martinez is a better p4p fighter than JMM, it isn't true.
