Why was Merchant so dismissive of potenital May and Pac fights for Sergio?

He kind of made it seem in the interview as though he Martinez shouldnt be picking on May and Pac because the are "too small".....but Sergio only rehydrated to 165-167 which is around the same size Ortiz weighed on fight night....Im sure Margarito weighed the same on fight night

Fact is, both Mayweather and Pac have fought at 154, while Sergio is being asked to skip a division and a half to essentially be "the smaller man" against Hopkins.......

Neither May or Pac should be given an excuses not to take this fight.....

Floyd and Pac have moved up several weights to get to where they at.

Yes, but Merchant made it seem as though Martinez was picking on smaller fighter, when both fighters have fought at that weight class.........but was willing to ask Sergio to go up 15 pounds to fight one of the best fighters p4p.......

I agree......Merchant wants to pit Sexy Sergio with bums that don't generate much money.

I want Sexy Sergio to fight a big profile fight, Sexy deserves a big payday.

He stays taking high risk and low reward fights. I don't feel that's right, he's a great fighter and would put a great match vs either Manny or Mayweather.

Shit, maybe even the winner of Cotto-Margarito II?

Maybe because its a bit unrealistic?

Both fighters will be outweighed by about 20lbs on fight night.

Huh? You know Martinez weighed 165, Ortiz weighed 164. At 154, Martinez may even enter the ring lighter.

Note that Martinez doesn't like to dehydrate himself too much. Martinez said he would lose some real pounds of muscle (not just water) using medical specialists to make the weight in a healthy manner. And he would take 3-4 months off to do it. If Martinez fights Mayweather and Pacquiao, expect Martinez to be at 160 max at fight night. Maybe less if he agrees to a rehydration clause.

Cuz he was first asked about Hopkins and he chicked out of it!!!!

Asking Pac and Floyd to fight him is a b*tch move and a hipocresy from Martinez!!
