Sergio's Hand's Down By His Side vs Floyd?

this is the #1 reason why I dont see Sergio winning. He fights like that 24/7. I just cant see anyone leaving there hands down & beating Floyd. Sergio gets away with it because he's far more skilled & faster then his opponents but that wont be the case against Floyd. Even if you think he's faster, he's not that much faster.

Floyd is mad accurate even if you keep your hands up, let alone with your hands down. He's bound to be landing & seeing openings all day. Sergio can then adjust & put his hands up but he's older now. He's not going to be great at doing that overnight. If he tries to do that then that will take away from his O & he wont fight the same. Anyone else see this as a problem for him in a potential matchup with Floyd?

    yea he'll do it.....

Sergio is 10x slicker than Ortiz by the way... Flyod doesn't have the power to put Sergio down anyway, so he'll have to fight his ass off in this one if it happens....

Sergio is too strong and would stop Floyd in 7-8 rounds.

Floyd would never fight him so let's hop out of fantasy land for a second.

You underrate his power and since when do you have to win fights by KO? Sergio is 10x slicker than Ortiz but he's not 10x slicker than Floyd

No way. He can catch Floyd with some Southpaw stuff early but if he doesnt stop him in 4 with something crazy then he's not stopping him after 4

BTW, Im a huge Sergio fan. I would love to see this fight even more than Floyd-Pac maybe but I just favor Floyd mostly because of that one thing

You think the determining factor in this fight will be that Martinez likes to fight with his hands down? You don't think that in training or even mid fight if need be. Martinez could make this small tactical adjustment if it was clearly costing him the fight?

its not a small tactical adjument when thats who you are. Its just like how you keep your left hand down all the time. Its his style and he's in his late 30's. Its not like he's changed his style from fight to fight or anything. He fights like that all fight, every single fight. Thats not the only reason why I think Floyd wins ofcourse but that is the #1 key for me and I think people will clearly see that if this fight plays out. Again, he could put his hands up as you say but then I dont think he would be the same Sergio after that because its not something he's use to doing and when it gets tougher, he will revert back to his old ways

That is his style, as you stated DLT. You don't teach an old dog new tricks this late into the game. He is who he is, and that's how he will fight Floyd if the two ever meet. Martinez's reflexes, sharpeness, and slickness are extremely good, but Floyd's are better. However, Martinez does have an advantage in reach, and size, which could help him with his style, as he pulls back when an opponent engages; but is he fast enough to do that against Floyd? Martinez has never faced a fighter with Floyd's skill set.

Martinez's hand down style is not beneficial against Mayweather, yet he has his reach, and size to somewhat make up for that flaw. I say flaw (despite it's effectiveness) because Floyd is one of the most accurate punchers in the sport.

Not necessarily true, if you look at the Bunema fight, you'll see that he raises his guard in the pocket.

I think a lot of people are misreading how Sergio would be in this fight. His last 4 fights have been against people with notable height advantages. His hands down style lends him the ability to duck his head low and slip punches coming from above.

Against Bunema, he kinda fought tall and dove in with properly guarded combos. He only really had his hands low from a far distance. I'd expect that if he fought against Mayweather.
