DC huh? That's cool for Peterson to fight in his hometown and all.

But really, I'm scratching my head trying to remember the last time a big fight was in DC. Anyone know?

ha! 18 years ago! Great card though. It's funny watching the bhop-jones fight and realizing not too many people were even in the stands yet.

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer told ******.com that WBA and IBF junior welterweight beltholder Amir Khan of England will make the first defense of his IBF belt against mandatory challenger Lamont Peterson, of Washington, D.C., in an HBO-televised bout from Peterson's home town on Dec. 10.

In addition, Schaefer said heavyweight prospect Seth Mitchell (23-0-1, 17 KOs), of Brandywine, Md., will "definitely be on the card."

The 29-year-old Mitchell has scored nine consecutive knockouts and 22 straight victories.

"We are finalizing the venue in Washington, D.C., but Amir Khan will definitely fight Lamont Peterson in Washington, D.C., and Seth Mitchell will definitely be on the card there," said Schaefer.

"We are now working on the press tour for Amir Khan and Lamont Peterson for next week. The first stop will be in London, and then, we are going to Washington, D.C."

The 24-year-old Khan (26-1, 18 KOs) has won eight consecutive fights, four of them by knockout. The 27-year-old Peterson (29-1-1, 15 KOs) won an IBF eliminator with a 12th-round stoppage of Victor Cayo (26-2, 18 KOs) in July, earning the organization's No. 1 contender status and the right to challenge Khan.

A practicing ****** who is of Pakistani decent, Khan was invited to Washington, D.C. as a guest of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on the eve of the 10-year anniversary of 9/11 for a dinner honoring prominent ******-American athletes.

Schaefer is hoping to entice Clinton and President Barack ***** to attend the fight.

Khan debuted in America with an 11th-round knockout of Paulie Malignaggi in May of last year at New York's Madison Square Garden.

Khan made his second appearance on American soil in December of last year, scoring a unanimous decison over Marcos Maidana at the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas.

Khan had his third fight in the United States in July, dethroning Zab Judah as IBF titleholder by fifth-round stoppage at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
