wifebeater is still a potshotter, but instead of moving backwards, he's moving forwards. that's all he's done.
Mayweather evolving into a boxer-puncher that counters.

Floyd is not evolving in to a boxer puncher[just because of his fights against Mosley and Ortiz], Floyd is not a defensive fighter[Just because of his fights against Baldomir and De La Hoya], Floyd is not a runner, Floyd does not come forward.
Floyd's style is: Winner.
He's a winner, he does whatever it takes to win. If he feels that he has to be defensive in one fight to win, he'll do it. He'll stink up the place.
If he feels he can fight you toe to toe because that's the best way to fight you, he'll do it.
Answer this question...Why did Floyd fight the small, Juan Manuel Marquez, so cautiously, but then turns around and fights aggressive against two guys who were bigger, stronger, more powerful, more dangerous at the weight class and more use to that weight class? I'll answer that, it's because Floyd understands the meaning behind "styles make fights". Floyd is so smart, and so ahead of the pack, that he knows damn well that size does not matter. It's all about styles. On September 2009, Floyd was fighting Juan Manuel Marquez. Period. Floyd is an expert in overcoming size, with fights against Corrales, Castillo, De La Hoya, and Baldomir. That's why he understands that if you bullrush such an intelligent boxer like Marquez, you will have a hard time. Look at what happened to Corrales and Baldomir when they tried to bullrush Floyd, they got easily countered, made Floyd's night much easier.
You didn't see him so cautious against the much bigger and more powerful Mosley and Oritz. In fact, we can all agree that Floyd picked up the pace after Mosley's big right hands. And was basically all up on Ortiz's face from round 1 to round 4. We did not see this against Marquez, maybe just once or twice in the corner. But Floyd kept his cool and remembered who he's fighting.
Size does not matter, but of course age and whether the fighter is past it or not does matter. But size itself, is just a bad excuse.Comment

I think Floyd is so proficient at adapting to the situation, that he can be seen what the ideal "Boxer" should be. He was just labeled a counter-puncher because he was so good at doing what a boxer should do; slip punches, look for opportunities, etc.
I think Floyd might finally lose if he faced someone just like him (highly unlikely), aged enough, or came across a big enough weight disparity - something like a Sergio Martinez fight.Comment

Floyd will box on his toes if he has to, and will stand and trade if he has to.
Makes no difference.
He just stood and traded with recent opponents to shut up those who claim he just runs around the ring and won't stand still to get hit.
Only those who hate pure boxers and love brawlers don't like Floyd's style.Comment

It's just that simple. Your opponent is there to aim at your upper body, and if you were already out of reach range enough, then you don't even have to step back much to avoid his incoming barrage of punches.Comment

If the Manny fight happen, I think he would be more mobile in that fight compared to his recent two just to prove a point of what Freddie Roach said about him being less mobile.Comment
