I don't know how he'll stack up to Martinez. But he's bigger, should be stronger & has a mean left to the body. I think he stands too wide & bends forward to low. & the stuff with moving his arms around & cuffing himself behind the head won't help, but I hope that this fight gets made next. Why not, the other pfp's are shook, might as well clean out 160.
Pirog has a mean left to the body.

I love Pirog's style, his sporadic arm/body movements make him so unpredictable. Against Martirosyan he should've got him out of there a lot sooner I thought. He couldn't miss with the left hook and should've put a right uppercut behind it.
I also felt like he never got out of the lower gears and fought at a slow pace without throwing much.
Hopefully he lands a decent fight on US TV, maybe even the Vera-Lee winner? -
He does seem to fight at a really slow pace. I too wish he got some good US exposure. He'll hold his own with most fighters around 160. He beats the brakes off of Chavez jr. Sturm too. American tv should get him some exposure, he earned it by retiring Jacobs. I don't like when fighters get a good win then get stuck on the shelf. Martinez has gotten some exposure, top pfp fighter. Give Pirog some to compliment Martinez's & build a big fight between them.I love Pirog's style, his sporadic arm/body movements make him so unpredictable. When Pirog lets his hands go though he looks really impressive. Maybe he was just toying with Martirosyan and wanted to get some rounds in? Martirosyan's style was hardly inviting for Pirog either, like I said, I hope he fights the Vera-Lee winner.
If not Lee/Vera, what about Macklin? He was scheduled to fight Matt Macklin a year or so ago but Macklin pulled out. That was a few months before the Jacobs fight and by the time he had squashed the lady bird I'm sure Macklin wanted no part of him.

Just watched the Pirog-Martirosyan fight and I gotta say, what a fun fight that was to watch! Even though Martirosyan was outclassed and the fight was rather one sided this guy fought like a warrior, kept on coming forward and in the 10th round 'went for broke' when he knew that, that the only strategy that would give him a chance to win. Also, what the **** was up wit the slippery ring?...
Anyhow Pirog put on a extremely entertaining performance as showed his superior boxing skills on display. Pirog does not fight in the typical 'European style' at all; he throws punches from a lot of different angles, gives his opponents a lot of different looks; his punches, his footwork and movement are very fluid; he throws a lot of punches (even though a good amount are arm punches and don't have a lot of power) and defensively he's good at ducking, avoiding punches and covering up when needed...
I also noticed that he has a certain 'swagger' about him in the ring; he's confident, he's a little ****y; and he's very offensive minded. Again not your typical European style of fighter. I'd love to see him on HBO again; his style is very suited for the American audience...Comment

HBO should put a double header with Pirog fight Quillen and Martinez fighting the Lee Vera winner. Pirog is a very American friendly European fighter, and I have to think he is getting punished for ruining an HBO prospect, because there's no reason he shouldn't have been back on HBO.Just watched the Pirog-Martirosyan fight and I gotta say, what a fun fight that was to watch! So what if he wouldn't beat Martinez? Maybe he would, and he has a belt. Make it happen.Comment
