OK, say May Ortiz only did 850K (which are still good numbers). What did Pac Margarito do? Marg is an exstremely popular fighter and a real draw in the Mexican community and had plenty of controversy following him, which would make an interesting story to hype the fight.
And Pac Clottey only did 700K at best. So I don't believe anyone is truly ready to anoint Pac as the ppv king just yet.

Yes, Pac did do 700k against Clottey. Not bad #'s considering Clottey has like 3 fans in the entire U.S and for the fight not having a 24/7 along with a weak undercard. Lets not forget he also drew 40k fans to Cowboys Stadium.

But they gave away thousands of tickets and they sold thousands very cheap, like $50 or less, which is why the live gate was small.

Come on, you are talking about two non-americans fighting on US soil, and Clottey has only his immediate family as his fans and i'm not sure if they purchased any ppv. 700k is actually good numbers considering....

We agree that 700 thousand was a good number. I just don't get why people keep bringing up the American thing though. Since the heavyweight division has lost the attention of people in the States its become clear that the fighters who draw crowds tend to have heritage or roots from another country. Its actually an advantage not a disadvantage these days. When a country comes out to support a fighter 9 times out of 10 that country is not the United States.

So now the argument is "2 non Americans?", when that won't work it's "Clottey only has 3 fans?". And when that don't seem to work "There was very little promo", this is Manny we're talkin about man.
From how you guys talk all we need is a date, no promo needed.

Fact is less jobs, less home owners, less PPVs these days. Not to mention the fact that nobody wants to see these guys fight unless it's against eachother PERIOD!!

You guys form a line to check for Floyds PPVs 10-11 days after the fight, but where are the Manny/Marg & Manny/Shane numbers? OFFICIAL NUMBERS.
But when Floyd outsells/outsold Manny it's "PPVs don't mean anything"??????

Clottey/Manny had 50k in the stadium, 20 to 30k were give aways..
850k is not official but a good number considering everything. Plus Floyd can't sell 3 tickets according to the Paklas, so I'd say 850k non official is a blockbuster

The fact is that GBP and HBO lost money on this fight and were embarrased for putting it on PPV. They are scared to release the numbers cuz if people saw how low it did everyone would go to showtime. And GBP and HBO boxing are barely hanging on by a thread.

Considering how much Floyd was guaranteed for this fight and the amount of money spent on the promotion, anything less than 1 million ppv buys would be considered a failure.
