I was looking through youtube and stumbled across this. If you want you can post some other videos of terrible jobs by refs.
This ref ******. Fight should have been stopped sooner.

The Duran/Moore fight was a disgrace in terms of refereeing. As great as that fight was, it should have been even greater and be thought as something even more special than it is, but it leaves a bad taste in the mouth once you get past the great win, all because the ref didn't stop it at the start of round 8....or whenever it was.
On a side note, Duran had a habit of going to the wrong corner. Even when not fatigued, as he was here, or at the start of a fight or something, he would go to the wrong corner at least once in many of his fights. Weird.
Anyway, such an amazing display of pure skill by Duran in this fight. As fat, and undisciplined as he was by this stage, he still had such incredible ring generalship, defence, savvy and just so many tricks up his sleeve. Truly amazing performance.
It was the Hopkins/Pavlik fight of its day. Young, big, strong, undefeated champ (though Pavlik was bigger than Hopkins really or the same size whereas Duran was tiny, fat and considered shot when he fought Moore) that was a big favourite on the books and an even bigger favourite with all the boxing fraternity and yet it was just a defining moment in Duran's first comeback yet everyone thought Moore was going to kill Duran. I guess the only difference between Hopkins fight and this one was that Duran was considered shot, rather than just old but still in great shape like Hopkins.Comment
