It's obvious who the Fighter of the Year for 2011 is.
This fighter created a tsunami in terms of what behaviors are allowable in boxing from now on. He is a very influential fighter in that he has re-defined what ethical behavior in the ring should be.
He only fought once this year in circumstances surrounded by controversy.
He only fought once this year in circumstances shrouded in fake blood test mystery.
The Fighter of the Year for 2011 should be Floyd "Sucker Punch" Mayweather. Yes, he only fought once against what many know as a cherrypicked bum. Plus, their blood tests may not have happened and if it did it would be under dubious pretenses.
But Wifebeater still deserves the award due to his influence. Of course, it is a negative and morally bankrupt form of influence. But it's influence nonetheless. Congratulations Floyd Mayweather for being 2011 Fighter of the Year.
