Why is Sergio avoiding Andre Ward???

Why is Sergio Martinez avoiding Andre Ward??? If Mayweather and Pacquiao decide not to fight Sergio, and Cotto clearly wants no part of him, why does he continue to try and fight smaller people??? Andre Ward has already said he would come down to 164 or 165 to fight Sergio Martinez after he beats Froch. Sergio's response is that he is too small to fight Ward. Instead, he says that if Froch beats Ward, he would consider going up to 164/165 for a fight with Froch. It's ridiculous!!! Ward is gaining popularity in boxing, especially if he beats Froch, he's already beaten Kessler. And, if he beats Lucian Bute, he will be the top Super Middleweight by far and Martinez is the top Middlweight by far.

Martinez has no fight plans for early 2012 as of yet, especially since it looks like Arum is cashing out on Chavez Jr with a fight against Alvarez. Arum clearly realized that Julio was mandated to fight Sergio and that he would lose, so he decided to try and make Alvarez-Chavez Jr happen to cash out. There's no other way to explain it.

So, why is Sergio Martinez avoiding a fight with Andre Ward at 164/165??? It is clearly one of the biggest fights out there in boxing to be made.

hes avoiding a guy whos been tied up in a tournament for the last few years? Odd.

Hes also more undersized compared to ward, than pac and floyd is to him.
He already went up and fought the lineal champ who outweighed and outsized him significantly.

I think its purely business. You mention May or Pac and if you don't follow boxing you know who they are. Same with Jordan and basketball MJ and music. Ward is a name or person that ppl in the know whether it be hardcore fans or more then casual fans know about. Since he doesn't bring in the casuals there is no way at all for Sergio to bring in a haul like he would against the top two. Not to mention IMO a way tougher fight. Even if May or Pac beats him they wont BEAT him like Ward could.

After Froch, he's going to fight Lucian Bute. I don't think he has any interest in Martinez.

I don't know. When was the last time Ward called out Martinez. Last time I checked Ward had his hands full getting ready for Froch. After that he probably will have his hands full getting ready for Bute and that's provided he even beats Froch who is a tough customer.

I don't understand why Floyd and Pac fans get so pissed whenever Martinez says he wants to fight them. If anything they should be excited. If Bute, Froch or Ward called out Martinez I wouldn't get pissed at all. As a Martinez fan you would not hear me say " Awwww wtf! Why can't Bute call out Chad Dawson huh! Why can't Ward fight the Klitchko bros.?"

But the thing is that you guys feel threatened. Because here is a guy who could actually win against your favorite fighter. To make it even worse these guys who won't fight Martinez have won belts at 154lbs. Which is a weight that Martinez can make. But nooo Sergio is just too high a risk for too little reward. I bet Arum and DLH have posters of Sergio in their offices that say AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Because that is exactly how they treat him.

One more thing. Has Sergio won a belt at 168lbs yet? No. Yet all the guys that have avoided him have won belts at a weight he's comfortable at. So what is the problem?
