PAC FANS: Do you think manny should leave Bob Arum?
Collapse

And go freelance like floyd is?
Arum is making serious money off him and he deserves credit for getting manny to where he is now. But i cant shake the feeling that Pacquiao has outgrown Arum now. its nothing personal its just good business.
But i guess Pac has too much on his plate like congress, movies etc to be bothered with promoting himself full time.
And i also feel the floyd v pac fight would be easier to negotiate if arum wasn't in the picture.
what do you think? Should pac go freelance?
Freelance like Floyd? Floyd is promoted by GBP. Aside from that, as stated in my last post, I think Pac should align himself with a guy like Dibella. If its gonna take for Pac to leave Arum so that Floyd can fight him, then i'm all for it. Lets just hope Floyd doesnt come up with yet ANOTHER reason why he doesnt want to fight Pac afterwards.Comment

I believe that, I see this when he was handling Erik Morales and continued with Pacquiao...No, I don't think he should.
Arum gets a lot of **** around here about being a scumbag, being a liar, whatever. Truth be told, I think he's underappreciated. You look at the biggest names in boxing in the last five or ten years. Your big three: De La Hoya, Mayweather, and Pacquiao have all been brought up by Arum and Top Rank. His matchmakers know what they're doing, and he knows how to cultivate careers. He's been behind a wealth of great champions and he clearly knows what needs to be done.
Whether they, or you guys, like it or not Arum is directly responsible for the success and popularity of those three I mentioned, as well as countless others. Morales comes to mind. Etc.Comment

He has enough of a name in boxing to go with out TR. He will profit more instead of have Arum dipping in his finances.
ODLH and Floyd left TR cause all the shady business that Arum does. Arum is a lying sack of crapComment

He managed Morales for I believe his entire career, pre-comeback trail. He got him the right fights at the right time. Slowly built him up. Matched him against the right people. He did the same thing with Mayweather. The same with De La Hoya. The same with Pacquiao.
Granted, the fighters sell themselves with their performances, but matchmaking and exposure is no small feat. Everyone acts like De La Hoya and Floyd are self-made men, but they aren't. Arum successfully promoted the both of them to the point where they could break out on their own. Where did Floyd get the money to buy out his contract? How did Oscar pay the legal fees needed paying? See what I mean?Comment

Arum is a great promoter no dispute about that, but so is Don King.
But if you want to talk about scrupulous behavior, that's a whole different thing. Manny only has a few fights in him left so no use leaving now. But I do hope Manny somehow retrieves all the $$ he was entitled to, the whole thing is very dodgy with VQuest with bold claims about Top Rank and Koncz.
EDIT: To the guy who suggested Dibella as Manny's new promoter - thanks for the laugh buddy I would've definitely spilled something if I was drinking something.Last edited by Phil Ivey; 09-26-2011, 09:45 AM.Comment

who cares? that his business let him take care of it.
if this is all about floyd not wanting to fight pac because of arum then **** that childish ****** excuse.Comment

It really is a bull**** excuse. Floyd clearly dislikes and is increasingly vocal about De La Hoya but he has no problems working with GBP. He just goes through Schaefer. I can't recall beef between Mayweather and Todd DuBoef of Top Rank. Someone want to enlighten me?Comment
