There's a huge segment of boxing fans with ****-****** tendencies towards particular fighters. Hence the endless nuthugging and things like this.

lol baltimore - why do u think that is? something about these fighters makes some fans connect with them on a different level? haha i believe some of them actually LIVE VICARIOUSLY through certain fighters. . . like if that fighter gets paid, they think THEY ARE GETTING PAID. . . if that fighter wins, they think THEY WON! lol - the line has become blurred. . .

it's like their real life has no meaning, no purpose - and that they base their highs and lows and successes off their favorite fighters life. . .

I wonder what the psychology is behind this, like for many of us we love/enjoy watching boxing but the notion of only liking one fighter is beyond me. The things that we enjoy, boxing for example are forms of escapism from certain aspects of our lives (the boring bits). But to be so obsessed about one fighter shows severe forms of escapism..which could maybe suggest that these fanboys lives are somewhat lacking in substance.
