Tyson's power has been measured and it went in the top 3 of HW's only to be beat by Shavers and Foreman i think, this is wat ive heard so might not be true,

You could measure the power of any boxer if you have full motion video of them. You simply measure the time it takes for a punch to get from one point to another and then multiply this by the mass behind the punch.(based on stance and weight etc)

You could use software to create computerized wire models of different fighters from video footage and measure their power reasonably accurately.

I`ve seen this done with animals to predict striking power.

There was a documental on the National Geographic Channel called "Fight Science" in which they unfold the fighting facts and the fictions with the latest technology measuring devises. On the fighting’s arts a former boxer and trainer (heavyweight) was the hardest puncher at almost 1000psi with a right cross to the dummy chin, even a skinny kun fu Asian scored over 600psi with short fast punches so prime Tyson with that speed would’ve been over 1000psi for sure. Overall the hardest punchers were the Olympic brick busta champions with a little more than a ton. The hardest was the shoulder shot at little over 4000psi and the motha****a destroyed through a wall of bricks. That are the fact guys, this 2 hours documental was great! Oh the two finger under arm ko was proven a fact by the ningitzu(sp?) master…That was AWESOME…

Tysons power was "measured" in fights, thats it. Any person that says they have a machine or device or way to measure punching power is seriously delusional. Punching power depends and is decided only on the result of a punch from one man to a specific other man. You cant hit a bag with a meter on it or go to an amusement park and measure it on a special device.

I think he did get his punching power psi (pounds per square inch) measured once in his prime (late 80's/early 90's) along with other heavyweights of his era. I don't remember the actual numbers, but Tyson didn't have the highest psi numbers. Fellow heavyweight Frank Bruno had the highest.

But that doesn't mean anything. For example, Jeff Lacy had the highest psi rating in his punch in the entire 2000 U.S. Olympic team, higher than heavyweight teammate Calvin Brock. But Lacy probably isn't even the hardest punching Supermiddleweight in boxing.

THERE...IS...NO....WAY...TO MEASURE A MANS PUNCHING POWER. Geez, man, you guys cant be THIS naive! It is crazy tothink a mans power could be accurately predicted because guess what? Show me a guy who measures off the chart on these machines and I will find you someone who will take his best punchand laugh in his face rightafterwards. A mans power can ONLY BE "MEASURED" BY the effect it has on another man and even then it is a thing where the other mans resiliancy and the circumstances of the exact moment of impact have as much to do with the effect of the punch as the actual punch itself does
