    Paco/Mayweather??

There is no doubt that Mayweather is one of the best fighters in his generation, But how can he claim to be the best if your not willing to fight the best?
Mayweather talks about being at the top of his game for X amount of years, But thats BS.
He fought Hatton..Mmmm we all knew deep down how that fight was going to go due to Hattons fighting style.
He fought De la Hoya Far from the top of his game
He fought Mosley...Far from the top of his game.
He fought Marquez. Once again his style suits Mayweather to the ground.
Now he fought Ortiz though the fight ended badly I feel he was always gonna win.

How I see it is its like the Klit brothers top of there game, But although they take on all comers for the title there is truely know one out there who can trouble them at all since lewis. The heavy weight division has not produced anyone for years who even comes close..

The point being klit brothers will take on all comers..

Calzaghe though there is a lot of hate for him on the site, Did and would take on anyone who wanted to fight him..There is a case of ooo he didnt fight Roy Jones at the top of his game and also Hopkins Mmmmm I never heard either of them boys calling out Jo..They didn't want that fight. Period

The difference between Mayweather and Paco is that Mayweather is the one who talks himself up of how great he is, And how long he has been around at the top..But hey theres Paco! Whats with all the BS..Why does he not do the man thing and fight him..He can keep ramming it down our throats of how great he is but who is he kidding? Not me, If he does not take that fight and do the business how can he ever be a great, When his name is mention in years to come way after he has quit the ring, People will say Yep Mayweather was pure science in the ring but didn't have the answer for Paco..That is the truth of it...
I read things like Mayweather doesn't need "Paco" Mmmm Bollox..Mayweather isn't the top dog Paco is in my view..
Ok Paco could do more to make this fight happen, But he aint the one running around trying to convince himself and everyone else that he is the best. Burning 100 dollar bills to show how much money hes got, No Paco he gives it to the less fortunate..
If Mayweather retired now where would he be placed in the list of all time greats?

There is no boxer out there that gets respected by every single boxing fan. It can always be seen as two ways. Lennox Lewis, only two losses in his career (both by KO), but he later avenged them by knockout. He had a memorable scrap with Vitali in his last fight, but some would not include him among the best heavyweights. I'm not saying he should, I'm just making a point.

Oscar had the advantage of weight, gloves, and ring size in that fight. Mayweather conceded to every demand, but whatever...afterwards, people said "Oscar was over-the-hill". That looked like a pretty healthy Oscar to me.

He fought an undefeated Hatton who was as game as always and had Floyd on the backfoot nearly the entire fight. Was it Floyd's weight? Of course! But you can't point at that fight and honestly say, "That was one of Mayweather's crappiest wins." He knocked him out...while stepping BACK...afterwards, people said, "Hatton never had a chance."

He fought Juan Manuel Márquez (pound-for-pound #2) at the time as a tune-up. He was the first fighter to beat Juan Márquez so dominantly. Afterwards...people said, "Too small...Márquez never had a chance." People say it was the weight disparity that made the fight bogus, and while there's some truth to that, I also think that a great degree of why Márquez looked so bad was because Mayweather's style does not favor his. Mayweather's a cleaner counterpuncher than Márquez. He hits you and gets out. Márquez counterpunches and gets the better of exchanges when you go toe-to-toe with him.

He fought Shane Mosley, the guy who stalked him at the post-fight interview and called him out. Mayweather got hurt, recomposed himself and beat THE guy nobody wanted to fight at welterweight. Mayweather shut him out, humiliated him and made a lot of skeptics finally give him credit. However, many were still saying, "Nah, Mosley was past it...That wasn't Mosley."

Mayweather comes back from a long lay-off and takes on WBC champion Victor Ortiz and knocks him out. People said, "Nah...Ortiz was cheated."

Had Floyd shut him out, people would've gone: "LMAO, he couldn't even knock Ortiz out!"

Had Floyd knocked him out: "LMAO, he beat Ortiz! Of course he beat him, Ortiz never had a chance."

You could do the same for Pacquiao's fights:

    Oscar de la Hoya
GOOD: Nobody had ever beaten Oscar like that.
BAD: That wasn't the Oscar everybody knew.

    Hatton
GOOD: He knocked out Hatton in the second round...at Hatton's weight.
    BAD: Hatton was damaged goods.

    Cotto
GOOD: Pacquiao took on a legitimate threat, took his best punches and came back to stop him.
BAD: Cotto was damaged goods, fought him at 145 instead of 147.

    Clottey
GOOD: Nobody had ever beaten Clottey that way. Shut-out.
BAD: Clottey did not come to fight.

    Margarito
GOOD: Margarito had never been beaten that brutally for so many rounds.
BAD: Fought Margarito at 150 for a 154 title, where neither fighter was ranked, further diluting the little credibility that's left within organizations.

    Mosley
GOOD: Was the only other person to knock down Shane Mosley and shut him out.
BAD: Mosley was past it, had been looking below average in his last two fights.

In the end, and I say this constantly, we're grasping at straws really. Because at the end of the day, the fact is Mayweather and Pacquiao are in a class apart and they can do things that no other fighters can because of their skills. While each person may have their own perceptions on the common opponents between them, it's best not to turn it into a black-and-white affair and say "Mayweather's the best, and Pacquiao's crap" or vice-verse.

Both are great fighters. Mayweather just gets a lot of crap because he boasts a lot and he teases the public by saying that he's staying in the sport. I don't care what people think about him, the fact is...people LOVE to hate him.

Good post mate! But I still I stand by what I am trying to say..What one off them guys in your list takes Paco? not one of them! same as none of them take Mayweather
All these fighters are second to Mayweather and Paco right? I know this and so does every real boxing fan..You cant try and leave a legacy off the back of fighters that don't really measure up to you its BS..He talks of greatness means nothing to people who no there stuff..Mayweather beats everyone Paco has fought same goes for Paco..I love both these fighters, Mayweaher has the lip of Ali but cant back it up with a fighter that IMO would leave no doubt about where his place would be in regard to greatness..No point talking the talk...It all means nothing Paco hasnt just come through the Ranks he has been here for years now damn years..
.A true fighter/boxer would be moving heaven on earth to get that fight" Mayweather talks about earning the buck well there is plenty of money to be made out of this fight..Just excuse after excuse..
You have to beat the best to be the best: Meaning No Hatton isnt the best, De la Hoya isnt the best, Marquez isnt the best, Mosley isnt the best I can go on and on Paco is the best out there to fight right now and for the passed 3-4 years at least, That is the only place where Mayweather finds greatness...
I cant see how any boxing fan can put Mayweather on the top til this happens? I really dont understand it

I...can't understand some portions of your post, but anyway...

What you said at the end: I cant see how any boxing fan can put Mayweather on the top til this happens? I really dont understand it

^^^I agree. As of THIS moment, I don't think you can place Mayweather above Pacquiao in the pound-for-pound rankings SOLEY on the fact that he's been more active.

I give him credit for Oscar because he was perceived as a huge underdog in that fight. I give him credit for knocking Hatton out at 140 and I also give him credit for Cotto (though I don't understand why he was the only welterweight that had to come in below 147). That was when he was at his peak in terms of credit and popularity. After that, his fights with Clottey, Margarito, and Mosley were unnecessary. Sure, they keep us entertained and Pacquiao probably could've considered those as tune-up fights for something bigger, but his last three opponents did NOT deserve fights with him.

Because of his activity, Pacquiao deserves his top spot.
