Here is why I don't subscribe to the "Marg would have won without the plaster on that night" theory.


Cotto fought from round 2 drinking blood and breathing through his mouth due to a busted nose. How much the funny wraps had to do with this crucial element of this fight is very important. When Cotto took the knee, he looked like a man drowning and gasping for air. His mind was clear and you can see this when he stood up. He knew exactly where he was etc. The man was gassed out.

I find it very unlikely that Cotto or Steward are going to encounter this type of scenario in the rematch. And it will be impossible for Tony to wear his victory wraps this time around. I think Cintron should be next to rematch Tony.

Margarito is just a shadow of his former self...Cotto as well. the only difference is that Cotto doesn't have to hang his head in shame like marg does to hide his ''bad eye'' when he's talking to people

I'm not a stan. If I was a stan, I would be saying like Margarito should be in the HOF after this career, better than Oscar/Tito at WW, etc. Yea I have said Margarito should be in the HOF ONLY if Cotto were to be in there if both careers ended right now. Pac layed it down on Cotto too. So?

How about for starters, Cotto's trainer Emanuel Steward inspected his wraps and saw NOTHING wrong a fight PRIOR to fighting Cotto. Unless you want to admit Cotto's HOF trainer is incompetent. Also, Margarito has fought in NY, NJ and Vegas and all the time he passed inspection. Those are facts.

If that someone got caught sucking a **** yeah you could probably call them gay with confidence, just like Margarito got caught trying to take plaster pads into the fight, just like he got caught trying to jack himself on Energy pills(Its a substance that's illegal in boxing). He got caught cheating, the guys a cheater and he is going to be in a mother****er of a fight. I actually think he has looked like crap when he has moved up in weight, seemed to lose his power, looked slow as hell and didnt produce the volume.

As far as Cotto goes the style Steward has him fighting should work way better than what he tried against Margarito the first time. Steward has him staying behind that jab, being aggressive,moving forward or circling, seems to work well for Cotto.

There is nothing wrong with Cotto's power. He can crack.

He didnt even buzz Marg at WW though so i dont like his chances of doing it at 153 either. Thats just a testiment to Tony's chin though.

However I think he could definitely hurt him to the body if he can get his body punching going this time.

Either way it doesnt matter - Cotto is gonna outbox him and give him a sustained beating for however long it goes. Im calling a Cotto UD

Margarito can't win a decision in Madison Square Garden unless he looks very convincing. Any close rounds will be given to Cotto because:

a-) He's the champion
b-) Madison Square Garden (any punch Cotto throws will get reactions)
c-) Cotto wins in a tough fight...sets up trilogy, and money for Bob

If Margarito wants to win, he's going to pummel Cotto as if Cotto had slept with his wife or something. I can't see how Margarito can get a decision there unless he absolutely thrashes Cotto (and when I say thrash, I mean like Margarito/Golden Johnson). He has to fight possessed.

BTW, I don't think you can just say "Marg's completely shot without his plaster". Mosley knocked him out, and while Mosley got hit, really...who's actually ever HURT Mosley in a fight? Very, very, very few people. He hurt Pacquiao with a body shot and while he lost EVERY round, it's not like Pacquia came out of there unscathed. It sounds like it doesn't make any sense, but it's true. Pacquiao won every round, but he took a lot of punishment in that fight, you can see that in his face. So I really don't buy the "Margarito-plaster=Powerless Margarito" equation.

Agreed with this statement! Plaster or Not Marg's still hits hard and is a tougher competition compared to those other light middleweights. Remember that compubox recorded that Cheato landed the most number of powershots to Pacquiao. Cheato's toughness and stamina may give him the edge over Cotto. Unless cotto's stamina has improved, it will be a different ballgame.

I think this fight promises to be WAR as I say it. It's the best PPV show this year for what I think. And I'll also note that Bobfather is Pushing hard for it's undercards. Rios is on the bandwagon for December 3.
