Comments Thread For: Khan and Froch May Go Head To Head on December 10

There could be some British head to head action on the American cable networks. Reportedly December 10th is one of the three working dates that Showtime offered to WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch for his unification with WBA king Andre Ward. On the same night, network rival HBO is televising Amir Khan's defense of the WBA/IBF junior welterweight titles against mandatory challenger Lamont Peterson.

Why do they always do this? They have so many weeks and months of absolutely *** all on and then they try to cram everything together at the same time..

Like I said on an earlier thread. Can't see Showtime letting Froch in any 50/50 Showdowns. Way too risky he could lose his belt and render the S6 final worthless.

Can understand Froch wanting a tune up or a pay day though. A decent opponent - Maybe DeGale or Groves. Froch would be a strong favourite against either. They are the same weight and and all British Title Showdown would get the public interested.

However even though both are inexperienced and Froch would be a strong favourite - maybe they are still a little too live or risky for Showtime.

Difficult to see them agreeing to too much of a live dog for this fight. Too much for Showtime and the S6 too lose if Froch loses.

Froch is not fighting anyone else. Early December is when Froch-Ward will take place.

You most definitely did not read the article thoroughly. Froch is not having any tune up fights. The December 10 date is penciled in for the Ward-Froch final.

Sky might fancy putting Froch-Ward against Khan-Peterson as Khan seems to have gone to Primetime in the UK now. On top of that, Froch-Ward is the bigger of the two fights by quite a distance.

Sky's input on the matter would be backed by Murdoch's media clout in negotiations.

            Its certainly an interesting development.

I think Froch wins via KO

Lol what are you talking about? Froch-Ward was always going to be on Sky. Froch has signed on with Sky Sports to show a certain number of fights and the date of which he fights Ward is irrelevant.

And what does Murdoch have to do with negotiations? What negotiations?

This will be another cake walk for King Amir Khan. By the way did anybody mention how much PPV were sold for the Mayweather/Ortiz fight, just curious.

Of course it was ALWAYS going to be on Sky dumbo, I'm not dis*****g that at all. Its just that the 10th December date for Froch Ward is NOT finalised you nincompoop. Read the fucking article and you see Froch could fight the week before or the week after and its all up to the networks.

Murdoch's empire is losing money on Khan, through him going to Primetime, but it could win him back by influencing the decision of a move away from Sky by pushing for bigger fights to be held on the same day as fighters that are signed up to other networks.

The motive for this beign that Murdoch's management team would want to force Khan back to Sky through competition.

Carl Froch is Khan's biggest competitior for audience share in the Uk right now, in fact they probably share a lot of fanbase.
