    Donaire vs. Rigondeaux in 2012???

Arum has said that Donaire is ready to move up to Featherweight by next year, for a potential showdown with Yuriorkis Gamboa. However, I don't think he will jump from 116 to 126, without taking a fight at Super Bantamweight, or at least I hope not. If Rigondeaux beats Ramos in December, and Doniare will most likely beat Navarez In November, would you like to see Donaire step up and challenge Rigondeaux for the Super Bantamweight title???

It would be a great fight, and Rigondeaux is the truth. If he beats Rico Ramos, a champion in his own right and unbeaten, he should fight Nonito Donaire. Donaire is great, may very well end up being the next Pacquiao, but Guillermo will give Donaire all he can handle.

What do you think of Donaire vs. Rigondeaux???

Bob Arum is trying to put a fight on between Rico Ramos vs Rigondeaux on the Cotto vs Margarito undercard. It would be sick if Donaire fights the winner of that fight but I think Bob will put him in there with the winner of Marquez vs Nishioka and Donaire already said he would like to fight Marquez if he wins.

I'm really hoping for this one. Rigondeaux should get past Ramos, but fighting Donaire in only your ninth pro fight is a tall order. As great as I think Rigo's future is, Nonito has to be favored in a match-up between them. Still, I believe his would be an excellent fight, with "El Chacal" playing counter-puncher to the "Flash's" aggressor.

But you gotta remember that Guillermo is 30 years old already, since he only defected from Cuba recently. Also, I believe Donaire is 30, maybe 31 (?), and he will likely lose a step or two by the time he's 34-35. We can't afford to see Rigondeaux wait for a few years to get huge fights. It's like Gamboa, he's already 29, he needs career fights now. They both have the skills for sure.

Oh, I agree, Rigo needs to move his career along quickly. I don't know what happened; he started fast out of the gate and has slowed down big-time. (Gamboa's career seems to be moving along fine, if you ask me.) I'm not saying Guillermo shouldn't be fighting big fights, but Donaire is a tough, tough match-up for someone with so little pro experience. Rigo is special, but he's still growing into the pro game. (BTW, Nonito turns 29 in November.)

Many great amateur fighters have died on the vine in Cuba. We never got to see their professional potential. If Rigondeaux joins them, it'll be just another sad "what could've been" tale....

I think Rigondeaux's gonna have to or be forced to press the action if he ever fights Donaire.

Great match up. I doubt Arum makes this fight happen though.

are 2 boxers that I love. I think Donaire may have problems with Narvaez, that is one of the best technical boxers in the world. I not think that Rigo has problems against Ramos.
If they both win would like that Rigo make two or three defenders before Donaire fight, and would have no doubt that Rigo wins. But if fight as soon I'm going with Rigo but not 100% sure

I don't see Rigo forcing the action at all; he's a natural counter-puncher, and Donaire is dangerous. I think it's a great match-up, two highly skilled boxers with complimentary styles. From the looks of things, however, it might not happen, at least not at 122. Nonito will probably fight the winner of Nishioka-Marquez, then move up to 126. (At least that seems to be the plan.) Maybe he and Rigo will meet at featherweight. It's probably a good thing; Guillermo can use more experience.

Yeah, the Donaire age was just a guess. I couldn't seem to remember how old he was. I knew he was late 20's, maybe 30, but yeah. Gamboa is doing fine but I don't want to see him move up from 126 just yet. I'd still like to see him fight Lopez, Garcia, and either Donaire or Rigondeaux once they move up to 126. If he does decide to move up quickly though, which he can, he could already make the jumo to Lightweight within a year I think. He weighs in around 137-138 on fight night already anyway.

I'd love to see Donaire fight Rigondeaux, but I don't know if Arum will throw him in there with him at 122. I almost don't even believe he is willing to put Donaire against Gamboa, which he has talked about all this year. Gamboa may not have been explosive against Ponce De Leon, but he won pretty much every round, and has the skills to beat Donaire for sure. We'll see how Guillermo does against Rico Ramos in December too, who is a solid fighter in his own right.

It's a shame that Teofilo Stevenson didn't defect and turn pro. He would have been a great Heavyweight Champ for sure. He was one of the most gifted Heavyweight's I have ever seen.
