but i disagree a bit about his merchant stance, floyd was trying to do commercials and not an interview, merchant took control of HIS interview, just like one would expect floyd to take control of HIS fights....... mayweather acted like a child to avoid being asked about the happenings inside the ring and was avoiding questions about pacquiao and his stance on drug testing... all of which mayweather isnt and wasn't prepared mentally to answer.... not without conferring with his team first to establish a script.......

i'm happy that someone on the level is finally calling out cortez on his gross incompetence......... a guy that has had SO MUCH WORLD TITLE EXPERIENCE AS A REF....... it doesn't add up or make sense...... unless it's corruption...

i also like the fact that he broke down the proper sequence in what the ref is actually supposed to do...... verses what cortez actually did, and how he BLOWS ALL THE PEOPLE SUPPORTING CORTEZ'S ACTIONS AS NO AND OR JUSTIFIED, OUT OF THE WATER!!!!!

DW says and explained exactly what I have said and explained about cortez in his duties that he neglected to fulfill........ any support of cortez in regards to this fight and his actions are just plain ignorant and JUST PROVE THEY KNOW ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT BOXING AND IT'S PROTOCOLS...........
    I agree 100%

Merchant is priceless. Dana White knows this. Floyd wanted to conduct the interview and Larry would have none of it. We end up with one of the most memorable sports interactions in the last , i dont know how many years. Fire him? LOL

He only dreams of press like that. He , the greatest promoter, cant manufacture stuff like that.

I challenge you to tell me what commercial Floyd was doing.

"I just want to thank everyone who bought the fight on pay per view, and who came to Las Vegas..."

That is patently ridiculous, and people are just parroting what they heard Merchant say. I ****in HATE when fans just blindly repeat what they heard someone say.

        The reality is:
        • Floyd was asked about Pacquiao and drug testing (in ring!) after the Mosley fight - he answered all the questions. (see below)
        • Floyd was asked about Pacquiao on the launch presser - he answered all the questions for about 40 minutes
        • Floyd was asked for 2 months about Pacquiao during training camp - he answered all the questions
        • Floyd had FightHype at his house and discussed Pacquiao AT LENGTH - even showing the planned outfit for MP
        • Floyd was asked about Pacquiao at the Ortiz post fight presser (for about 50 minutes) - he answered all the questions. See below.

The reality is that Floyd came over to Larry, put his arm around Merchant and was answering questions and trying to keep things positive. Floyd said "I want to thank all my fans who..." - CUT!! Merchant cut him off. THAT is what pissed Floyd off.

Tell the truth. Stop making **** up.

This is a never-ending war with the Pacquiao lovers. I'm a fan of Pac and Mayweather, but the level these "*******s" are on is unbelievable and takes away from a good site where some people actually want to have a proper discussion and learn more about boxing.
Anyway, I totally agree with Dana White. Cortez did not control that fight well at all, the boxing commission seriously need to reevaluate his ability to ref the big fights. Mayweather played within the rules, not ethical to some but it is legal. Merchant needs to show some respect to fighters and I guarantee they won't be hating on him. Like DW said, the man just had a fight and a tough training camp, the last thing he wants is for someone to just start attacking him straight away. He needs to be professional about his job and not take sides because he hates the other fighter

A professional athlete regardless of sport should behave like a professional. Answer the questions. If you dont wanna answer, say no comment.

Unless you think they should worshipped as gods, always praised and have their asses kissed.

Merchant is just too old to be commentating. I can respect his opinions but I believe the HBO commentary team has a definite grudge against Floyd and it was evident during the fight.

Merchant was giving Floyd back handed compliments all night long and Lampley was pretty much seeing phantom punches thrown by Ortiz. There was the instance where Floyd does his usual perfect counter rights and Lampley makes it out like Ortiz just landed a solid shot on Mayweather. Steward just sits back like the token black dude that he is and did not rectify Lampley's blatant incompetence in calling the fight.

                  Who can forget the **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** nonsense.

maybe larry would've been more successful if he had moved on with a question about pacquiao instead of repeating and repeating the one floyd already answered. motherfucker kept cutting him off too, he had it comin.
