This is just unlucky. It's unfortunate but one of those things.
I agree they should have informed them first, however. As far as Froch having a fight, in can't see it happening. If it does then it has to be a tune up and not against an elite fighter.
S6 has gone on for two years with the sole intention of two belts being on the line in the final. How is it going to look if Froch loses his belt and the final ends up being with only one World Champ not two.
Froch has a big enough name and fan base to fill Nottingham arena against a decent guy and earn a good pay day before moving on to the final.
Why not have Froch offer DeGale or Groves a crack. DeGale is fighting for the Euro Strap next am sure he'd like a shot after, he keeps saying so
However, I deem it too risky to be going in with any established elite Champ and you can be certain that Showtime will too.

I don't see Showtime letting Froch fight Bute or any other top level opponent. Too risky for the tournament.
But they might let him fight some domestic Brit chump.

Wow - what a predictament this puts Showtime in to. Ward took 7 stiches, he's not gonna fight a fight as important as the Super Six Championship fight until he is good and healed, and then he's gonna need to get back in to fight mode with more training. So, assuming it's more than likely December or so before the fight gets put back on, if Froch has another fight in between - he risks himself getting hurt or possibly even losing (although they don't dare take a fight with the slightest possibility of losing, **** does happen). He shouldn't reasonably risk getting himself hurt in the interim.
As I said, this is quite a predictament. Unfortunately, the safest option would be for Froch to wait it out and rest, then start back up basically warm up training about 4 weeks in to the new scheduled date. He already has a game plan and knows what to do. He just needs to stay in shape in the meantime.

if it needed 7 stitches then i don't think he'll be ready in a month of postponement. reschedule the fight next year and allow froch to defend his title.

Froch should leave this tournament. Carl doesn't need this softie primadonna. Ward can't even protect his face in a sparring session. Ward should go back to amateurs!

froch just has to wait a bit longer for his loss unfortunately

Twitter has been used by many athletes in recent years. Most notably Lance Armstrong so it shouldn't be a big deal.
I can understand the frustration on Team Froch's behalf and their desire to get a fight in November if Wards injury needs a prolonged healing.
I remember George Foreman getting a cut in Zaire before his fight with Muhammad Ali. I think that fight was postponed about a month but I'm not entirely sure. Foremans passport was with-held so he couldn't get back to the US as the organizers felt the fight might be put off.

Pictures of the cut? I think it would make many feel a lot better about this (not because he's cut, but because the excuse is legit)
