Pacquiao vs Mayweather @ Aloha Stadium in 2012?

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - It's the boxing match promoters salivate over and fans dream of - thunder fisted Manny Pacquiao versus crafty and quick Floyd Mayweather Jr.

"This is the biggest fight in the history of boxing," defense attorney Michael Green said.

Green wants to make that match. He has a letter signed by Pacquiao and his attorney that states Pacquiao is interested in fighting in Hawaii in 2012 or 2013.

Green said why not match him against Mayweather?

"The only thing I cared about is having Pacquiao's name on a piece of paper, his attorney's name on a piece of paper, giving us the permission to at least pursue that fight," he said.

The fight would cost a bundle up front. Green estimates $100 million guaranteed to the fighters.

Hawaii Boxing Commission member and longtime referee and ringside judge Herbert Minn doubts Hawaii could afford a Pacquiao vs. Mayweather bout.

"I don't think there's enough people in Hawaii who can pay ringside, $2,000 to $3,000 a seat," he said.

But Green counters that Pacquiao and Mayweather fans would flock to Hawaii, and financial backers will see the potential.

"I think people are going to stand in line for this," he said. "We're going to know in probably the next six to eight months the potential for raising that kind of money."

Green wants to stage the fight at Aloha Stadium. A football sellout is 50,000. The stadium could add another 10,000 field seats for a boxing match.

The Hawaii Tourism Authority knows of Green's idea.

"I think the consensus would be that the potential behind this event is enormous," HTA brand manager Michael Story said.

Green believes Hawaii's large Filipino community is a huge incentive for Pacquiao to fight here. He said for Mayweather, it's money.

"I think Mayweather would fight in the back of a van if he got $50 million," Green said.

Others have tried and failed to get Pacquiao and Mayweather in the ring.

Now Green and his group are taking a shot.

The fight of the century, Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao, could happen in paradise.
Las Vegas, Dallas, Los Angeles and New York have all been mentioned as sites for the mega-bout, but don't count out the Pineapple State.
Michael Green, a Hawaiian based attorney, is working to bring boxing's showcase to Hawaii. Green tells KGMB that he has a signed letter from Pacquiao and his attorney that shows the boxers interest in fighting in Hawaii in 2012 or 2013. Of course that fight could pit Pacman against anyone, but Green is angling to make it a fight with Mayweather.
Aloha Stadium, the home of University of Hawaii football and the Pro Bowl, would be the likely venue. A crowd of over 60,000 could pack the stadium for Pacman v. Money.
The large Filipino community on the Hawaiian islands is a big selling point to get Pacquiao to bring the fight to the Aloha State, according to Green. More than 42,000 Filipino-American residents live in Honolulu, making it the largest Filipino population in America.
Green believes Mayweather and Pacquiao could each earn $100 million guaranteed for the big event. Others are skeptical on the Aloha State's chances. Longtime boxing judge and referee Herbert Minn isn't sure the people on the islands can afford the prize fight. "I don't think there's enough people in Hawaii who can pay ringside, $2,000 to $3,000 a seat," he said.
While the economy is bad for just about everyone, Green feels that fans from around the world would happily make the long flight to Hawaii for the much-anticipated showdown.

Are we forgetting Crackweather uses PEDS that are only legal in Las Vegas? He injects Zylocaine in his fists, which is obvious cheating, so no way in hell does the jungle monkey ever fight outside of Las Vegas.

        Crackweather needs his PEDs.
