    top 10 ppv buys for boxing, ufc, wwe 2011

    PPV buys are real important for these 3 competitors so below is what is confirmed and the big events left in each sport with my predictions. this is in USA so all domestic. Please discuss the top 4 that has been confirmed and the other 6 that I am pretty sure were round out the top 10 for this year. This forum is for respectful people only so put your opinions out there with respect to others and please no pacquiao and mayweather discussions for the 54315952359 time.

    CONFIRMED
    1. Pac vs Mosley = 1.3 mil buys
    2. Pierre vs shields = 850,000 buys
    3. Silva vs Belfort = 750,000 buys
    4. Wrestlemania 27 = 663,000 buys

    PENDING PREDICTIONS
    Mayweather vs Ortiz = 1 million buys (ortiz not a big enough draw)
    Pacquiao vs Marquez 3 = 1.1 million buys (best rivalry but not super draw)
    St. Pierre fights again = 700,000 buys he is their pacquiao
    Lesnar return = 900,000 biggest ppv draw for them but on dec 30
    Cotto vs Margarito 2 = 600,000 buys it will sell big with 24/7
    Survivor Series = 550,000 buys after 8 years the rock finally wrestles again

    So if my predictions hold up the final will be
    Boxing = top 3 ppvs of the year and the 9th biggest
    WWE = the 8th and 10th biggest
    UFC = the 4th through 7th

    Boxing dominates the biggest fights but is still looking for help when it doesnt involve pacquiao or mayweather. UFC ppv buys are going down because they have too many. WWE is starting to make a small comeback with old stars returning.

      Good Info thanks. Its a shame boxing in the USA is only covered on HBO/Showtime. If Boxing was on network television in America I believe it would be one of the biggest sports here. Man I just wonder what the number will be when Pacquiao and Mayweather actually fight.

          do a calculation on total ppv buys.

          UFC is pulling serious money due to the total amount of ppv buys they get over a year.

          Didn't know mosley vs pac was confirmed.
          Is cotto vs. Margarito getting 24/7? Damn, i need to keep up.

            True but their numbers are drastically down since 2009. I have a buddy who follows it pretty close and he told me so many bars have dropped there subscription for ordering ufc events. Silva's last fight only did 300k he said.

              I'm not fully certain but didn't Wreslemania 27 do at least a million buys? I remember reading that and the backstage morale if that company was high since they did a million after quite some Mania's. I'll try and find the link

                  yes pac vs mosley was confirmed the fight was back in may.

                  Wrestlemania did over a million buys total but the domestic was 663,000.

                  Lesnar has not fought this year he did last year and had surgery at beginning of the year.

                  As long as boxing continues to dominate with the top fights and top gates they will continue to be on top of the 3. All of the HBO and Showtime shows and gates make millions trust me Boxing makes the most money hands down. There is a reason why Pacquiao and mayweather can make over 20 million a fight and UFC biggest names like Lesnar and St. Pierre are lucky if they even get a million.

                    I think Pac-Marquez MIGHT suffer a little bit, due to Dos Santos - Velasquez fighting on FOX...i was going to buy the fight until i realized this was on the same night, and I'm sure I am not the only one. May-Ortiz will most likely have the most buys...GSP-Condit might do better than expected
