He's had ups and downs in his young boxing career that could make anyone root for him. Diaz vacated his IBF lightweight belt to step up into a big money and big risk fight, as good fighters do. Most do not have to go up against boxing robot Jose Luis Castillo though. He put up a supremely game performance (showing the champion's heart) but ended up with a busted up face, an injured career, and a vicious boxing lesson. He's come back from an abyss that many boxers would not recover from. He's still here and still has his eyes fixed on the prize. He's a hardened warrior now, on a vengeful comeback trail, scorching through both of his post-Castillo opponents with first round knockouts. He's a smart, highly adaptive fighter and he possesses champion heart and focus. Julio Diaz has learned the hard way about what it takes to be on top. And Lord knows he is going to be a frightening opponent for any fighter who wants down that road.
Julio Diaz is a threat to all

His loss to Angel Manfredy was total B.S.
The low blows were not blatant and were the only reason he lost the fight. I thought he clearly did enough to win.
He has beaten some serious guys....not top dogs that would earn him a title as an elite fighter yet:
But I agree in that he is a force to be reckoned with.
nobody can take him lightly.

I agree with the fact that he should not be taken luckily but I still think he needs to beat someone well known for him to get recognized.Comment

Julio should knock out Juan Diaz for hiw WBA strap. Too bad Juan Diaz is being protected like there is no tommorrow.Comment

I have a lot of respect for Julio Diaz because he stepped up and fought JL Castillo instead of cruising along for a couple of years fighting nobodies, trying to protect his career.
He's a real warrior and we should see him in the comeback trail pretty soon...Comment

Juan Diaz should be protected...he is just a baby!
Sometimes a fighter wins an alphabet belt far too soon for his own good and after that happens he is forced into fights that he and his management team usually would have never considered.
Sure you can say if you have a belt you should fight top guys to retain it but if you are are working for Team Baby Bull you need to take him on the Paul Spadafora route (scenic)...he needs 5 fights against c and b level guys before he decides to fight a guys.
Juan should also look at dropping 5 pounds and look at 130...there is more money at 130 than at 135 and far, far, far, far, far less danger!!!! PPV bouts await with Morales and Barerra...and I give Diaz a shot at pulling the upset and outworking both men.
Fighting Julio Diaz, JLK CAstillo, Juan Lazcano, Diego Corrales...those kind of fights do not need to take place right now. (David Reid v. Tito).
OOOHHHH ****, Julio Diaz...man didnt you love his ko loss to Pollo Valenzuela? He was robbed against Manfreddy but he still fought far to cautious against a ****ty overrated fighter.Comment

I agree....Julio is a good fighter and for some reason I can't stand Juan just like I could not stand Rocky Juarez....glad he was exposed....I think the thread maker has a great post and agree with him for the most part.Originally posted by .::|ULTIMATE|::.Julio should knock out Juan Diaz for hiw WBA strap.
