Golota was out of shape in that fight and came in the ring dry. He was totally unprepared for Brewster's attack. Credit to Brewster for possibly seeing this and attacking him instantly.
This is true, I mean, who thought Brewster would do any damage?
Or that early for that matter, he got caught off guard.
I thought Golota was going to beat Brewster that night right up until the final weigh in when Golota was weighed in at 248 pounds. At that moment I knew bad things were going to happen to him. He has never performed well at that high weight. Examples are against Tyson and Grant he was at about 242. Against Lewis he was at 244 with Brewster he was at 248. The only exception would be his first fight against Bowe where he weighed 243, but that was also at a time when he was 28 years old. His best performances have been at 238 or less.
Lennox Lewis is also a good example of this. He looked terrible against Rahman the first fight and he weighed in at 254 pounds, against Vitali he was 257 pounds. However in his rematch with Rahman he was 247 and he looked great along with the Tyson fight he weighed 249 and looked great.
