Honestly, I do not feel that Byrd deserves to be rated.

Technically, by the rules of boxing, yes. But here we are fans discussing who is the best, and with correct judging, Byrd barely cracks the top 15 right now. Seriously... His last 2 title defenses were poor performances where he squeaked out one decision and controversial split decision, where his #1 contender(Wlad) has easily beaten both fighters in the last couple years.

His last 2 fights before that were pretty clear losses to most fans, where he was saved by judges on Don King cards because Byrd is worth something to King only if he has a belt, whereas Oquendo (because he's Peurto Rican) and Golota (because he's a name and a freak show) are draws without a belt.

And let's not even get into the fight dodging and being perfectly healthy and perfectly inactive, with fights gift-wrapped for millions all year long...

For any boxing fan to rank Byrd as the #1 HW in the world right now is outright shameful. Go sit in the corner, masterdirector.

Its not that we dislike Klitschko its the fact that he has been givin the title as THE world champion by a very reputable boxing magazine(well it used to be reputable) and we take umbridge with it for several resaons.

Firstly he only has one belt and there are three other champions out there, he needs to start unifying before he can be called a THE champion.

Secondly, he has a loss to another title holder Chris Byrd.

Thirdly, his wins to get to the title after his loss to Lewis was beating an outta shape Kirk Johnson and an outta shape Corrie Sanders who is also a part time golfer. This is not the kind of caliber opposition that recognized world champs are made of.

Yet despite these valid reasons he is deemed the best HW champ of the world by Ring Magazine. I don't dislike Vitali at all, in fact I think he is a great guy and a good human being, plus an all right fighter. I just dislike the fact that he has been given the title as the true world champion when his resume would strongly suggest otherwise.

You have to rate Byrd in the top five becasue of the caliber of opposition he has faced in comparision to the other champions. While too you his performances may not seem impressive, u have to remember that he is an extremely undersized HW fighting giants and if u aske me, fighting pretty darn well. His last fight I did not think he fought well but I thought that he beat both Golota and McCline, not by a large margin but I had him winning.

CITA makes good points about VK being a questionable #1 guy. Having said that, none of the champs have done a whole lot imo.

          My list

          VK
          Byrd
          Brewster
          Toney
          Ruiz (ouch)

          prospects

          Peter
          Brock
          Harrison

Byrd is more impressive than Brewster, who has beaten Wlad, Golota and Krasniqi by stoppage in 3 of his last 4?

            Please.

As I said, Byrd's last 2 defenses were recent losers to another one of his contenders, who beat them easily. So the titlist fights them after his contenders get done beating them? And he can't even do it as convincingly as they did? How exactly does that rank him above his contender, especially considering that contender just convincingly beat the most dangerous HW fighter in the world in his last fight?

I mean, I could go on and on... Byrd ranked at #1 is outright idiotic. I'm sorry to be so blunt. But it just baffles my mind how anyone ranks him #1...

It baffles me how anyone can rank Vitali number 1, but we can agree to disagree.

Currently, I do not have Vitali ranked as #1... But yes, we disagree completely anyway.

Actually I really like Ike Ibeabuchi but I think he's heading the "Tyson road".

Top 5 HW prospects (who will get title shots in the next 3-4 years)

                    1. Povetkin (HW olimpic Champion)
                    2. Ibragimov (HW Olympic silver medalist who managed to defeat Savon in Good Will Games I think)

I'm assuming you top 5 HW prospects are russian. Again, your bias is undeniable.
