i believe the old balance beam scales are much less prone to error than a digital scale; that's why they still use them for all medical purposes.

Even though Jr. rehydrated all the way up to 180, I still believe Canelo should just come up to 160. . . The dude is beefy and would likely BENEFIT from not having to struggle.

still it's a "show" fight - no real substance because neither is proven world class material. . . I'd love to see it happen just for the hell of it - but obviously it would mean little in regards to fistic significance.

          Yello

New to this board but a big boxing fan. I just dont' see this fight happening until they both establish their careers and then "cha-ching" here comes the big money fight. Trust, they are going to wait to make this fight happen.

yeah, i kind of agree. i think if it does happen, they should have the bout at middleweight with no catchweights. alvarez can definetly come in at 155-157 and chavez at the limit. i think alvarez would be capable of beating chavez by fighting him like he did rhodes and assuming chavez comes out like he did against zbik. not sure if alvarez should be fighting for the strap though, i think they should have it vacated and let rubio/martinez go at it. alvarez can still make 154 and still has plenty of competition left there.

They should make it soon as possible.I thought chavez jr lost his last
fight to zbik.Theres a good chance he can lose his next fight.Plus he
              keeps getting fat.

not only that, but there is going to be tons of pressure for both of them to be tested and start fighting real fighters next year. either guy could take a loss and the potential "two young undefeated mexican champs" feel/hype they would want behind this fight could be gone. both are fighting once more this year, that alone with some months left for media publicity can hype up this potential matchup and probably have it ready for april/may 2012. the mexican and mexican-american fanbase both of these guys have would be enough to make this a succesful fight.
