Haven't HBO commentators always favored "getting back" when dirty?

I don't know how many times I've watched HBO fights where Merchant and Steward (can't remember about Lampley) have said stuff like "If he hits you low, hit him back low!" or "Back in the day, guys like Dempsey wouldn't just let that slide" or "This is a fight, there's no time to be making friends and touching gloves".

Mayweather has kept his composure all his career in that ring. Judah was an example, DLH had his elbow right on Floyd's neck on the ropes while hitting him, Mosley throws Floyd against the ropes and tries to spend time talking with him afterwards, Hatton pushes Floyd between the ropes and hits him on the back of the head, the list goes on as Floyd isn't the least frustrating style to figure out.

In this case, Cortez said and motioned "Let's go!", Ortiz went and gave a FOURTH! apology, Floyd hugged again, then Ortiz proceeded to back away without protecting himself. Floyd was so fed up and ready to fight like the ref said.

Floyd took advantage of a physically bigger, prime, stronger, young and fast Ortiz. However for all of those advantages that Ortiz had going for him, Floyd beats fighters with his mind.

Guys like Roach and Khan need to realize that there's a lot more to Floyd than what you "see" in the ring. He wins with his smarts more than any kind of speed or "cross armed boxing stance".

I believe they see it as a pretty big difference to getting hit low and low blowing back compared to getting butted, the guy losing a point for it, and then knocking him out with 2 punches that are seen as cheap shots.

WHat bothered me most was Lampley saying "all the hopes we have in Manny Pacquio". Lampley wants MAnny to beat floyd which as an objective journalist he should not put that on TV. Privately he can say anything.

Lampley and Steward both applauded Mayweather for smacking Mosley when he wanted to touch gloves and talk. Same exact situation, except this time Mayweather had legit reason to be furious, Ortiz has no chin and didn't remember to protect himself.

            uh ya.

-- if you get headbutted, you headbutt back.
-- if you get punched in the balls, you punch in the balls back.

you don't pretend to hug so as to lull your opponent into a false sense of security...and then punch him in the face.

although to be fair, david haye wishes he thought of this first.

The funny thing is they are advocating for more foul play while what May did was LEGAL..... Don't know why everyone has sympathy for the man who broke the rules and hate for a man who followed them to a tee.

I dont care about Red K's so red K the **** out of me. But this has to be the dumbest post ever. If somebody headbutted me I wont run around the ring chasing them with head. I'd hit that ni@@a in the mouth. Not to mention chasing his balls. Sorry bro, either you are a clown or just naive. Alright now accepting red K's....

So you would rather have had Mayweather viciously foul Ortiz in the same manner that he was fouled, instead of waiting...waiting...waiting...for the very first opportunity to LEGALLY HIT HIM WITH HIS GLOVES? Mayweather had his hands up the whole time and he waited for Ortiz to take a step back. I can't believe people would rather have Mayweather foul to "get him back" instead of legally punching Ortiz.

One thing you have to realize is that these guys are fighting, maybe for your entertainment but still "fighting"..... If someone hit me with a E honda or T. Hawk flying headbutt, I would be dying to hit him dead in the mouth. I'm not waiting 4 rounds to sneak my own headbutt in. I'm hitting that ni@@a in the mouth right away.LOL. Seriously how some people think, pay to watch two animals scrap and then complain when they actually do. Go to a Mike Vick's Dog Fight and complain about late biting. It's a fight people..Yes it is a sport, but human emotions do take effect. In real life you will not allow anyone to jump and headbutt you in the mouth. They are still 2 humans fighting....
