  • Comments Thread For: J. Mayweather: Nobody at 147 Strong Enough For Floyd

It was a crowded scene inside of the media center at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas following Floyd Mayweather’s shocking 4th round knockout over Victor Ortiz. In a fight that left some satisfied, others disappointed, and many perplexed, Mayweather would stop Ortiz after catching him with an unexpected left-right combination that the Oxnard-based former champion never saw coming.

If Mayweather is so far above all welterweights why did he cheat the cherrypicked bum Ortiz by sucker punching him?

Jeff brings up something that I feel has been greatly overlooked in regards to how sharp Floyd was: his world class sparring partners. Floyd has mentioned in several interviews how they brought the absolute best out of him. Latimore, Powell, and Ouma can all be competitive with (if not beat) most anybody from 154-160, except Martinez. After boxing on the daily with those three Middleweights, I don't think Ortiz could really surprise Floyd with anything. The size factor was a non issue. I wonder who they'd get for Pacquiao?

Yeah we do all know why we won't be seeing the Pacquiao/Mayweather fight - because Floyd don't want it!

fair enough if theres no one to challenge floyd at 147 and the pacquiao fight cant be made then how about fighting alvarez at 154.i know hes still young but hes had 38 fights so you cant say hes not ready, his last few fights hes blown away ex world title challengers(experienced fighters)hes had 10 more fights than khan who is being mentioned as a future opponent and both he and floyd are promoted by golden boy so no politics should stop it being made.thers also cotto at 154-who floyd claims he would have beaten years ago at 140.
