From a fan's perspective, how did Forrest do/look?

How did he look in his fight? Was it at 154? Did he look like a guy who could take over jr middle with Vargas, Karmazine and Ouma?

Yes he fought at 154. He looked all right, but he really wasn't fighting an elite level fighter. He took his time, listened to his corner, got some rounds of work, and got the victory. Plus his injury didn't seem ot bother him.

But to answer your other question, he is not ready to fight the top guys at 154, they would all beat him IMO. You also gotta remember this is only his second fight back after the layoff, so he shouldn't be expected to be able to beat the top guys.

"decent" is probably the best word to use at this point.

i seriously think he was just trying to get some rounds in and fight off the ring rust.....by next year he'll be ready and he has been in that many wars so he's preserved very well for his age

I thought he looked pretty awful. The guy he fought had ZERO speed, and he still caught Vernon a few times,Not to mention it went the distance.I thought if Elco had even a little speed he would have had a very good chance at a UD.EVEN a LITTLE speed man.VF really shouldt be fighting if he's going to stay at this weight.

It didn't go the distance Mech, he got him out of there in the last round. At least Forrest didn't try coasting through that last round, that showed fighting spirit, heart.

Forrest looked decent enough, but the first half of the fight, he was throwing way too damn wild and he was way too close. The 2nd half, he started finding that range better. If Forrest is going to try brawling, which I think isn't smart for him, he at least needs to do it from the proper range, where his forearms aren't going to be what's hitting his opponent. That's one reason Garcia went as long as he did. He was mainly getting forearm shots early on.

I agree, Forrest isn't ready for an elite guy. One more fight and he should be as ready as he's going to be though.

Vernon is a good fighter......he looked good but not spectacular I think he may have been able to take this guy out sooner but maybe he did want to get a little work in since his last fight was a quick TKO.....He would beat Vargas and Karmazin right now maybe after 1 more tune up IMO....Ouma on his game may give his some trouble but these are just my thought some may disagree.

Again, the main factor here really wasn't that Garcia had zero speed, but that he was a tough guy that could really take a punch, im sure he's still feeling those shots right now.

haha youre right.I forgot it was a "stoppage"
******ED Ref.It would easily have gone to a UD.Not that its vernon's fault ,he was doing what he went there to do.

Yes he had a good chin, but he was NOWHERE NEAR the calibear of fighter that the top guys in the division are.Personally i wouldnt qualify it as a reason why Vernon looked like he did.I dont think he'll be winning any big fights is what i was getting at.

You can't expect him to look world class at this point, a lay off can affect a fighter a lot and takes time to get back.
