    George Benton Died

That sucks. I know about him because he trained two of my favorite fighters in Mike McCallum and Evander Holyfield. He also trained a lot other fighters, studied under Eddie Futch , and was a professional fighter.

I don't really know too much about him so if you guys could provide input about his fighting and training career that would be great.

Did he invent the phillyshell defence, or was one of the first to use it?

Far far too many boxers too go through to find out who was the very first, including boxers there's no footage of, impossible task.

thats like asking who invented a chinese martial arts style. boxing has been around for over a thousand years, ppl build off of others styles. nothing is really original.
