Cortez's mess up did not ruin the fight!

Cortez did ruin the fight. He should have warned Victor after the 1st, 2nd or 3rd headbutts because he was obviously doing it blatantly. Had he done his job when the first butts happened, he may have prevented the whole debacle.

He clearly does not have the awareness or the competency to be ref'ing big fights anymore.

Now that you mention it, I think you're right. He had to see the butts landed after the warning which makes it even worse, IMO. The point should've been taken away before Victor got so carried away with it.

Cortez should be blamed equally as FLoyd. Because Cortez is counting Ortiz out, and he dont even know why Ortiz is on the floor because he sure as wasnt looking at the fight! He dont know if someone threw something from the crowd and hit ORitz, or FLoyds uncle came in the ring to hit Ortiz or if Floyd roundhouse kicked Ortiz in revenge for the headbutts.

He should have given Ortiz time to recover and resume the fight.

when cortez says "time in" to the time keeper, he's supposed to do that before the fight action starts, and both fighters are to be set up across one another, NOT "LET'S GO" and yall fight while I go over and start ****ing with the front row....

check the gif... Where's Floyd standing, where's Ortiz standing? They're both at neutral corners walking toward each other after Cortez says "let's go"

Again, did u not see with your own eyes how close Cortez was when the knockdown occurred? If Floyd threw a wide right hook instead of a straight he would have ended up hitting Cortez

IDK if he was ensuring the time was on, or if he was checking how much time was left, but in the end him not looking at the fighters has nothing to do with the KO. When the ref says "Let's go!" you're not suppose to be worried about what the ref is doing, you're suppose to look at you're opponent

The gif proves the bold wrong, Mayweather is at 1 neutral corner, Ortiz is at the other, Cortez says "Lets Go!", the 2 come together...

Like I said, Cortez is an incompetent referee, but if u actually UNDERSTOOD wut this thread was about, you'd know I was saying that Cortez isn't to blame for the KO. Not paying attention to the fighters, although certainly a referee's mistake, has nothing to do with Ortiz not paying attention to Floyd.
