    Canelo was somewhat exposed

I'm reading all of this talk about how he was "trying new things" and he was toying with Gomez and experimenting. Could have KO'd him at any time, etc etc.

Lol guys, nobody all of a sudden "tries new things" in a ppv fight just for the sake of learning. He was struggling with Gomez, plain and simple.

Yeah he was doing things that we haven't seen him do before, but that's because he was starting to lose the fight and HAD to try new things to get it back under control.

We all want a new super-popular hero to get behind once Pac and Floyd move on, but this isn't the guy, lets not be delusional here. He won't be able to hang with the guys at the top of the sport.

Yeah, the whole trying new things out was BS.

In all the confusion of Ortiz-Mayweather, the fact Canelo was getting beat was totally lost. I do like Canelo. Probably one of the more exciting fighters to watch (imo) but he was struggling with Gomez.

Trying new things while getting out-boxed and losing on the cards.

Yeah don't get me wrong I like the guy. I'm not going to be the type to call a guy a "bum" just because he probably won't climb into the top ten of a division. He has heart, he can punch, he has good technical skills, he is a good fighter.

He'll be a fringe top 10 guy in the 154 lb division and he won't ever come close to the p4p top 10.

I think he'll still beat Chavez jr....

I don't think he beats Chavez Jr and I'd like those two to fight each other next so I can be proven right. I think Chavez Jr. has been fighting the tougher fighters that aren't midgets. Canelo likes fighting midgets and british fighters. Thats how impressive his resume is.

Har to say if he just gave up rounds to time his power shots. But yes he froze when under pressure.

Gomez is a better boxer than he is ever given credit for. This was a slight step up in class for Alvarez and he rightfully struggled. Any kid 21 years old would struggle a little with a guy of Gomez' caliber.

The stoppage was premature but I think Gomez would've been taken out of the fight sooner or later.

Alvarez is a very hard worker and will do whatever it takes to live up to his hype. He's a humble and hungry kid that will listen to advice and could still end up doing big things in the sport.
