Just watched mayweather vs ortiz. My thoughts.

Ok, so i just watched the replay of the fight today. Floyd was definitely winning every round, but it wasnt as unanimous as everyone was saying on the boards last night. I saw at least 4 intentional head butts from ortiz, and on one of them floyd gives him a little smile like, "ok, now imma have to punk u even harder boy." Ortiz acted like a little kid, and by the way, who does a leaping head butt while their in the middle of a good flurry? Dude drank too much red bull before the fight. I'm not a floyd nut hugger by any means, but i was sooooo glad when floyd 2 pieced his ass after the head butts. Ortiz looked like a little kid in there. Come on ortiz, you tried to force a hug out of money may, and he obviously didnt reciprocate, so instead of getting the message, stepping back and putting your guard up, you stand there trying to hug it out with him. It was obviously a scared mentally weak thing to do. On the other hand, if floyd fought the same way against pacquiao, its over for floyd. That walking down thing aint gonna work on pac man. Obviously he wouldnt fight pac man the same, but after watching this fight, i'm even more inclined to pick pac man to win.

Sorry, i totally forgot what i really wanted to point out. Ok, ortiz fought scared, and could not handle floyd's shots at all. The reason why pac wins is because the dude LOVES to fight, and can take a shot, and come right back. Floyd relied on ortiz getting gun shy and stepping back. That will not work against pac man.

I agree that strategy would be bad for a fighter like Pacquiao who thrives on carefree exchanges because most times he can get off his shots faster or in between the other fighter's shots. I also think when fighters fight defensively it frustrates Pacquiao-example his antics during the Clottey fight (regardless of whatever one may think of Clottey's motivation. Joshua showed good defense and it pissed Pac off that he could'n't hit him enough to put him away. I'm sure Floyd's team has noticed that as well and will employ a different strategy WHEN this fight happens... As an aside in regards to Victor Ortiz's misfortune last night; the vey first time I laced up gloves to spar my trainer forbid any of that glove touching nonsense and everytime anyone tried to do it he shouted "Hit him! Fight now, you can be friends later!" Good advice indeed.

Ortiz fought competitively, clearly lost rounds 1 and 3, and lost 2 and 4 (before ko) in close fashion.

He was getting frustrated, but that headbutt was one of the dirtiest I have ever seen in the sport of boxing. Just nasty.

I actually think that strategy would work great against Pacquiao because Manny can't fight backwards and will get countered and pushed back when he tries to flurry against Floyd. Floyd is not a come forward brawler like Margarito and he's not gonna shell up like Clottey. He's gonna keep tagging him with right hand counters like Marquez and have him back peddling like Morales did in the first fight. Neither Morales nor Marquez moved a lot they stay right in front of him, I think Floyd's new style against Manny would be a combination of those two but with a reach advantage and more speed. Manny's only chance will be in the opening rounds when Floyd is trying to feel him out and study him.
