chico& jlc the controversy still rages

perhaps im wrong , but alot of fights i have watched , especilly HBO the fighters always weigh more when they come into the ring .

if corralaes has such a tough time making 135 , why did he agree to fight at that weight ? if corrales had won again . all the boxing writers would be saying the weight made no difference .

One last time i'll say it,

Its a use to ur advantage type of excuse plain and simple.

When fans or figthers etc can find a reason for the loss they use it.

For a long time when a fighter didnt make weight it ment he had poor conditioning, was killing himself etc, it was a disadvantage and capable of turning the odds the other way.

Shaw, and Corrales's people all felt that was the case, And it would be to their advantage and even went as far to make a 100,000 dollar bet which shaw later refused to pay.

Now that chico lost they scream bloody murder.

Jesse James Leija concurs and says not making weight is one of the worst that can happen to a fighter. He recalled one time he didnt make weight and he didnt have an ounce of water left in him to loose. He said he felt like they killed his mom in front of him. He knew he couldnt loose anymore and he had no strength he went to his apartment and just laid in bed while his wife put ice packs on him cus he felt so bad. He came back one hour later and the scale was off and he made weight but he actually weighed exactly the same as the first time.

The poll asks a black and white question.

          There's nothing but grey answers.

          It boils down to this:

If Castillo tried to make weight but couldn't, he did nothing wrong.

If he never intended to make weight and usded the ruse to his advantage, it was worse than Chico spitting his mouth piece out in the 1st fight.

Either way, Castillo knocked Corrales out good, but in the end, he's not the best Lightweight in the world.

So any way you look at the fight, it had disapointment casted on it in some respects.

Don't bring up the mouthpiece thing, that's a bigger non-legit excuse...

              He lost a point...

They'd probly say the extra weight slowed Castillo
down. They would say he came in out of shape. I was
rootin for Chico, but I dont think the weight would
have effected the outcome. I dont think the KO would
have been that quick but I think Castillo wins. Just
by watching the first fight Chico took a bad beating
in there first match. How he won that was unbeleivable.

Its had an effect, but Castillo would have beaten him anyway......
