I keep hearing people say Jesse Vargas didn't deserve the decision. The kid outworked Lopez in almost every round and outlanded him. I know you guys like the more effective punches over here which is cool and alll, but Lopez didn't land nearly enough to win. And there's a reason for it. He couldn't get past the jab and movement of Vargas. He almost shut him out in the late rounds. Even with the point deduction I still had Vargas ahead. All of the boxing blogs did too...
Is he ready for Khan? Hell no. He'd get destroyed in 6 rounds. But he has a lot to learn at this point in his career. Not everyone's gifted enough to become great as early as Khan has. This was a good learning experience for Vargas. He needs to continue fighting guys at Lopez's level such as Mauricio Harrera, Provodnikov (if he gets by Harrera this time), Victor Cayo, etc.
