Ortiz was completely fine after the fight. He was just stunned. There was no concussion or anything like that. The punch Pac landed on Mosley was harder than the sucker punch Floyd put on Ortiz.
You are right, it was a quick count...

Is Floyd supposed to say "Hey Victor I'm about to punch you in the face REALLY hard, you might want to put your hands up"
Ortiz "Okay Floyd thanks for the warning!"
Would I do the same thing ABSOLUTELY and anyone who says different, think about this...You have been fighting for 16 years, you have never lost, you are the best fighter of your era, this guy you are looking at wants to end that and give you your first lost. Are you really not gonna take every legal shot you can? If you answer "no" your just a hater.

Is it still legal if your opponent is looking in another direction with his hands by his side...even if it's techinically legal is it morally correct?

Personally i don't even blame floyd, yes he did something dirty but Joe Cortez was the ****ty refferee who let it all happen, he stopped paying attention to what was happening.

Plus Victor tried to headbutt him more than once, and mayweather was using his Elbow.

They need to have a rematch with another referee that actually understands the importance of a big fight like that.

Cause say what you will, but before all the crap it was an insanely entertaining fight.

Cut to 5:10, watch Echols turn to the referee, Bernard then sparks him one - keep yourself protected at all times is the motto of the game

Legal punch, sure. Ortiz headbutted him, right.

Still cheap and pathetic, much more than a headbutt that may or may not have been on accident. It looked pretty intentional, but Ortiz hasn't really fought dirty in the past and sometimes people do ******, spontaneous things. What Floyd did wasn't spontaneous. He baited Ortiz out of a defensive stance, took advantage of a ****** referee and did one of the most disgusting things I've seen in boxing for years. All this legal punch, eye for an eye crap is just an excuse. That was pitiful sportsmanship, and he should have been DQ'd.

Yes I would, it's a boxing match isn't it? If I'm in a fight, have been headbutted 7 times, kissed on the cheek, hugged, and touched gloves with my opponent two times already I definitely would. It's not my fault they don't understand or follow the principle of defending themselves at all time.

I believe in sportsmanship and also that boxing is an honorable sport filled with honorable athletes, but there is a good reason for the “protect yourself at all times” rule.

Look at it from the other way around: If all a boxer had to do to stop an opponent from hitting him was to put up his hands to tap gloves with his opponent, start talking to the ref, or simply turn away, the sport would come to a stand still. The action in the ring would stop every few seconds and the sport would eventually cease to exist.

I’m sorry, because of that you have to protect yourself at all times and the burden of being ready for an attack is on fighter and not only when he is ready with his hands up.
