Since when have Primetime ever been in a position to outbid Sky? If Sky wanted Pac v Marquez III/Mayweather v Ortiz, they'd have got them. The reason they didn't bid is because they're on at unsociable times, don't involve a British fighter which doesn't make it marketable as a PPV to them. They're clearly making changes with regards to their boxing content, it's no surprise if they solely focus on domestic fighters now where the casual interest is, because the general interest to watch boxing at 5am isn't there beyond the small minority of hardcore boxing fans.
Primetime are at least making an effort to bring these fights to the UK audience. Question, from a purely boxing stand point, which of these fights isn't PPV worthy:
Floyd v Ortiz
Pacquaio v Marquez
Khan v Salita
Sky have also put Haye v Harrison and Hatton v Lazcano on PPV and tried charging you £15.
Primetime aren't great, as people have said their coverage leaves something to be desired, but you can't honestly dislike them for competing with Sky. Competition is good for the customer. When Setanta went bust (because too many idiots complained about having to pay subscribe to watch Premier League and England away games) Sky sat back on their laurels and took the píss with some of their PPVs. Now you have Primetime and Premier Sports offering us something different and forcing Sky to up their game.Comment
