Comments Thread For: Seth Mitchell Rolls with the Punches, Postponements

By Ryan Maquiñana - One month ago, Seth Mitchell was westward bound for his HBO debut in San Jose.

Unfortunately for him, Boxing After Dark headliner Robert Guerrero injured his shoulder in training, causing the cancellation of a card that included the unbeaten heavyweight’s co-featured bout against Mike Mollo.

“It was a little disappointing, but I had faith in my team that I’d get back in the ring soon,” Mitchell said.

A stone’s throw away from his home in Brandywine, Maryland, Mitchell’s tireless toil in nearby Clinton at the Dream Team Gym would not go unrewarded.

His promoter, Golden Boy, eventually landed him a shot on a televised main event in Las Vegas this Friday—albeit on a lower-profile TeleFutura Solo Boxeo card in the Texas Station Casino that Fox Sports is in the midst of picking up as well. [Click Here To Read More]

Mitchell seems like a hard worker hopefully he is able to progress and get a title shot soemtime in 2013. Its good to hear that he has been training with Tony Thompson that will give him some experince.

Its a shame the Mollo fight didnt happen. I know his team are looking at an experinced fighter in nov-dec time. There was talk of Rahman or Grant.

id say it will be grant because rahman is next in line for the WBA title.if he doesn't land the povetkin fight dec 17th its because he got step aside money.the WBA gave povetkin 90 days to sign to fight his mandatory which is Rahman.sasha & chagaev were 1 & 2 & rahman # 3 but since chagaev lost he moves down leaving rahman next.michael grant seems like the logical choice & it would be a big step up in class.

Yeah i heard that Rahman was inline for a WBA shot its a bit of a joke really as he has done nothing, i think the last time i saw him was in the second Toney fight and he looked terrible.

Grant would be a good choice next for Mitchell and its a good sign that his team are looking for fights like this, i wouldnt mind seeing him fight Mollo after that as it would still be good experince, then if he gets by those 2 fights he could look at fighting a top 10 heavyweight in mid 2012.
