Strange thing about the liver: when it is hit, your body instinctively will curl up to protect it. When Oscar took a liver shot from Hopkins, he tried to counteract this by laying on his tummy. This guy here that Boom Boom hit, he tries in vain to not curl up but the right leg pulls up an he loses his balance and lands on his knee. Notice how he stay curled up after he's down.

I don't think it's just the liver being hit that causes that reaction. I think it's because it knocks the wind out of you, and freezes your diaphram so it's stuck in a contracted position. Thus the keeling over until it's relaxed.

True. But without the shot to the liver, most people, including Oscar, would have had time to get back up in a count of 10. Also, people's legs don't curl up just coz they can't breath.

You're right. I think it's a combination of both. I took a bat in the chest once and couldn't move for like 20 seconds. Getting the wind knocked out of you is a horrible feeling. Not that getting punched in liver is any better...
