Morales expects to decision Pacquiao

HANDLERS of Mexican ring great Erik “El Terrible” Morales does not think he has what it takes to knock out Manny Pacquiao, but are confident the Tijuana fighter will beat the Filipino again on points.

Jose “Olivaritos” Morales, Erik’s father and manager, predicted this yesterday when asked by Mexican media, as quoted by the website Boxlatino, about his son’s fight against Pacquiao on Jan. 21 in Las Vegas.

“One of the great virtues of Pacquiao is that he has a granite jaw which resists much punishment, and I believe that Erik must move to make an intelligent fight, to give [Pacquiao] a boxing lesson and to win on points,” the elder Morales said.

Jose said that if Erik stays at the Centro Ceremonial Otomi for two more months, his son “will have a sure victory, because he would come to the fight very tough by then.”

It seems like Erik will try to outbox Pacquiao towards victory instead of going toe-to-toe. My question to Mexican fans, does this make Erik less of a Mexican to you? Be honest.

It's that simple. I see a repeat of there first meeting.

granite chin my ass, he got knocked out twice before in his career by unknowns, and u can say what u want to about manny being young and not experienced back then, but a knockout is a knockout(havent seen neither of the 2 knockout loss's he has), and I dont think fighters can better there chins, they can better there defense but not there chins in my opinion, morales should have more confidence then that, kind of dissapoints me, but maybe hes just sayin that to surprise manny, either way it gos morales will win again...

Manny's KO's came when he was a teenager.

If you don't think there's a difference in ability to take a punch between when one is a man and boy, you should take a look at a lot of Mexican fighter's records. Many durable well chinned Mexican fighters suffered stoppage losses as young fighters because they turned pro at 15.


I've seen both of the stoppage losses Manny suffered, and he appeared to be sacked in the 1st one, and the 2nd one was a fight where he killed himself to make 112 when his body had clearly out grown it.

Manny's chin isn't unbreakable, but to suggest he's chinny is ignornat.

He fought Barrera, Marquez and Morales in a 4 fight span and wasn't knocked down once (don't try and tell me that kd in the 1st round of the Barrera fight was legit).

Manny's a warrior, and he's got an above average chin.
