New Video: Andy Lee Talks About Brian Vera Rematch on October 1 on HBO

Middleweight contender Andy Lee (26-1,19 KO) of Limerick, Ireland discusses his upcoming October 1 rematch with Brian Vera, the only man to defeat him as a professional, at the press conference on September 14 on New York City's Bleecker Street.

Lee, who is now promoted by Dibella Entertainment, discusses the tough rematch, plus his chances of facing middleweight kingpin Sergio Martinez down the line.

Good interview, Andy Lee comes across as a classy and down-to-earth kinda guy. I'll be rooting for him and hopefully he's tightened up his defense from his last fight where he got hit an awful lot against Craig Mcewan.

Why not? Lee's a bonafide mw contender; it's a worthwhile matchup...

Thanks, Andy Lee is a very nice guy from my experiences with him, and there is zero pretense in him. He makes for exciting fights, no doubt about it, but sometimes exciting isn't a good thing for him.

There really isn't anyone interesting for Martinez to fight at middleweight. If he gets past Barker, at least we've seen Andy Lee before and don't need to be completely briefed on who he is like we would with Peter Quillin, who hasn't been in a big TV spot yet.

My proposal would be Matthew Macklin vs. Andy Lee, winner gets Martinez.

i think if either golovkin or pirog tried fighting in the US more, or getting a bit more recognition in the boxing world, they would be great potential opponents. both need a bit more fights as well though. quillin is on the same boat as them imo. and about that irish middleweight clash, i remember dibella talking about it in your other video, that'd be an awesome fight to setup.

Thanks bro, the Rooney/Dibella one is my favorite of all-time, because I had a guy in Rooney with the same sense of humor as me.

The Vera fight is no gimme because Lee has a habit of giving up his height and brawling. It sounds bad, but Lee should try and make this fight as boring as possible to win.
