Gamboa is 70% style. 30% substance.

Its a shame people are fooled by all that posing he does. When u actually look at how effective he is, and how hard he works, there is a lot to be desired. He is capable, but prefers to showboat.

I can understand HBO being frustrated by a POTENTIALLY great talent who only fights in spurts.

That is true. Gamboa is moving up in weight. 130 lbs and 135 lbs he is going to start facing bigger and TALLER opponents. He won't just be fighting 5'4 or 5'7 fighters. He might just face someone like a Diego Corrales or a Brandon Rios type of fighter. Gamboa had been knockdown already against smaller men.

So, I think Gamboa has the right ideo of mixing it up once in a while.

Gamboa has a mountain of high expectations piled on him. It's almost impossible to fulfill them night in and night out.

Fughkin sick and tired of HBO's commentating. They always have to have a motive when covering a fight. They can't just let us enjoy the show, they have to pollute the broadcast with their biased bull****.

Sure it's business but they abuse their power and do it foolishly, IMO. The public is catching on more and more. HBO's production is top notch but they DESTROY the shows by having idiots like Max on there trying to one-up each other and rambling on about something instead of doing the play-by-play.

I think ESPN should pull a fast one on them and start getting in on promoting and broadcasting big fights.

Can't underestimate the power of sportscenter.

Agreed. They can't respect a fighter learning all aspects of boxing and what it takes to become a complete fighter. They and most people want to see slug fests...mostly fighters without much ability and obviously don't care if they lose or not...Just as long as they "please the crowd"!
There's no longevity in those type of fighters and HBO doesn't really care...take out the old and bring in the new. As long as you bring us excitement...if not, we'll bad mouth you and look toward another crowd pleaser...EVEN THOUGH YOU"RE STILL WINNING!

green K. The HBO crew has been annoying me for years they ALWAYS be rambling on about some **** that has nothing to do with the fight or some philosophical debate, ****in wow just call the fight! People hate on the showtime crew but I like them more because for the most part, they are there calling the fight, not nearly as much drifting off to whatever the hell topic or overly criticizing a guy or sucking a guy off (like berto's last fight).

As much as people like and are used to the HBO crew, I've always been in favor of COMPLETELY revamping the whole damn thing, from the crew down to a new and exciting presentation etc. You want to get more of the youth watching boxing? That's one way how....gotta start marketing more to a younger audience.
