I think the fight would be more even than people think. Gamboa tends to fight with his amateur days at times and Mikey has the pro style to give him trouble. Gamboa would need to be on the bike and fight a perfect in and out fight to win, but will have trouble when they go tow to tow as his chin is not as strong as his legs.
Mikey also has a better corner for the fight, one that will be looking to capitalize on his amateur mistakes.
This IMO would be a 50-50 fight depending on who sets the tempo and pace.

Mikey has pop, that's why I said his chin would be in question. We know Mikey can take a serious shot just like his brother but I haven't seen Gamboa get hit like that by a fighter of Mikey's size and power.

Like I said, it would be interesting style wise. Right now I would give the edge to Gamboa but Mikey is progressing so fast it's scary. He is methodical in breaking opponents down, goes to the body extremely well and is so, so patient. I love that about the kid.
Haven't been seeing you around, Cuauhtémoc. Good to see you again!

Mikey is impressive. He's still very young, so he's got plenty of time to grow into his ultimate potential. I think that's saying quite a bit. Garcia also appears to be a genuinely good kid with great work habits. There's a lot to like about him.

Miguel's power is a weapon against any fighter. Gamboa will have to avoid getting hit flush (because he will get hit). He'll have to keep Garcia busy with his furious speed and combinations. It'll be tough for Mikey to put his punches together against Yuriorkis, since he'll have to respect his power as well.

Gamboa's style relies on his crazy natural gifts. Athleticism and speed are very time sensitive attributes, though. Yuri will be thirty in December, so I see his shelf-life as very limited. Right now, Gamboa's natural abilities should carry the day versus Garcia. Perhaps not so in a couple of years.

I just hope Arum doesn't pussyfoot with this fight like he did with Juan Ma and Gamboa. Maybe Garcia and Gamboa fight a couple more fights until then, but strike the iron while it's hot.

Yea man been busy at the gym. I got a new gig at a pro gym and been busy basically 6 days a week. A lot of responsibility.

I think you are right about this fight though, even though we never know with a fighter like Mikey. I just love his seriousness, patience and the way he just methodically breaks guys down without rushing anything or worrying about the score cards.

That's something that's hard to teach.

Yeah, I figured it had something to do with work. Life gets in the way, right? Hope your new gig goes well!

I like some of the same things about Mikey. There's something reminiscent about Salvador Sanchez in him....
