Comments Thread For: Flawless at 40: Vitali Klitschko Continues To Batter Foes

By Cliff Rold - In what might have been the finest performance of his career, at any age, 40-year old WBC Heavyweight beltholder Vitali Klitschko (43-2, 40 KO) of Kiev, Ukraine, laid a steady beating on 34-year old former two-division champion Tomasz Adamek (44-2, 28 KO) en route to a tenth round mercy stoppage at Stadion Miejski in Wroclaw, Poland.

Klitschko entered the contest weighing in at 243 lbs., his lowest weight since 1998. Adamek was a rock hard 216. The referee was Massimo Barrovecchio.

Fans hoping to see a more aesthetically pleasing encounter than July’s Wladimir Klitschko-David Haye contest got their wish, but it was also a less competitive encounter. Adamek, a heavy underdog coming in, battled gamely but was never remotely in the contest.

Klitschko had everything to do with it.

The titlist appeared to score his first knockdown of the night in the second round, but Barrovecchio deemed otherwise when a big right hand sent Adamek toppling towards the ropes. The strands kept him up but he managed to gut through the round clearly hurt. Adamek, giving up approximately six inches in height at 6’1 ˝, was struggling to jab his way inside on Klitschko early. this so-called 'fight' was a farce since it was 1st announced -- when one of the contestants has absolutely no chance to win, it's pointless

to call out VK's performance 'flawless' is completely inaccurate -- what about his robotic, lumbering movements throughout? his inability to put away a guy half his size who had nothing for 10 rounds? -- his many misses? -- think what guys like Ali, Frazier, Holmes, and in his prime Lewis would have done against the VK we saw last night? -- please, at this point, VK is a very good all-around fighter whose man attribute is his size and lack of credible opposition -- hardly flawless!

Haye should accept the challenge. It's not an shame, if you lose to both Klitschkos. Although, Haye's ego disagrees.

so now, idiots and Klit lovers like you will attribute any less than 'flawless' performance as deliberate? -- what about VK's pre-fight comments about wanting to KO Adamek?

I'm not a fan of Klitschkos, but saying things like the fight against Adamek was hardly flawless, it's just ******. Vitali was in complete control. You can say what you want about Klitschkos, but you can't deny their supremacy and efficiency. Where does this hatred come from ?
